Wow, go Bill O'Reilly!

You have made the seemingly impossible. You have made Geraldo look reasonable and compassionate!

Way to go Bill!

I can't believe I somewhat agree with Bill. Violent crime is proportionate to poor education. America will never be as safe as Japan or Sweden with a constant influx of poorly educated peoples.

You stupid fuckwit. Did you even hear Geraldo's point about illegal immigrants commiting crimes at a lower rate than citizens? Or do you have some evidence to the contrary that you're withholding?

We all know Vince McMann is secretly promoting these two. I can't wait for the pay-for-view no-holds-barred smackdown event!

Holy Joe Pesci am I lucky that in Australia we don't have to put up with blow-hards like that crud-bag O'Reilly filthing up our televisual airwaves.

Our AM radio airwaves on the other hand are a different matter.

In insincere loudmouthed (far-)righteous indignation spewed forth by this pant-whistle makes be want to puke.

That was fun - watching two people I don't like argue is a win/win for me. Geraldo seemed to making the most sense.

Rickler - You're assuming both that immigrants are poorly edudated and American's are not. I don't have facts to counter the viewpoint but I suggest you don't have facts to back it up. What I will point out is that the case in point is not 'violent crime' - it's 'drink driving resulting in manslaughter' - I would wager the majority of US drink driving offenders are home-grown Americans or US citizens, but again - I don't like making assertions without first gathering the facts.

For example - Geraldo's comment that there are more US Citizens than aliens in US prisons is probably true, but to look at the point properly you'd need to look at the figures thusly: (Aliens in US Jail / Aliens in US) : (US Cizitens in Jail/US Citizens). This might swing more in Bll's favour.

However I agree with Geraldo - this should not be an issue about immigrants. Plus I really really don't like Bill, apparently more that I don't like Geraldo.

Norm cut this video about five seconds before Bill and Geraldo's heads exploded into goo all over the camera. In other news, the Terror Alert Level has been reduced to hard orange.

@Rickler: Sweden has a higher immigration rate for "poor educated" people than the US per capita. The main difference is that immigrants and refugees are provided with a future as citizen to look forward to. Illegal immigration is negligible compared to the US.

Crimes are not committed because people don't know any better. Crimes are committed to improve quality of life by people that don't have any. Making them illegal and forcing them into poverty is a major part of the problem.

I have yet to see a illegal immigrant drive drunk, but every weekend I see a dozen or so people doing it leaving frats and around campus.

Bill-O and Geraldo yelling at each other - Fox's idea of "debate". Geraldo made the most sense, and as usual, Bill-O's response to facts is raise the decibel level.

The very existence of this shitty network makes my stomach churn.

Ratings, people, ratings. All staged. It's Jerry Springer for politics junkies.

Rickler - come visit Sweden (yes, I am writing this in Stockholm).. There's TONS of illegal immigration here, but like flynn mentioned earlier, we take the approach of HELPING people instead of making them hide out and try to stay "under the radar".. I know first hand, I lived in the US for 13 years.. (some of those years without legal papers - BUT I filed for a tax ID and I paid taxes anyway..) Which brings me to another interesting point; What happens to the MILLIONS of dollars paid to fake social security numbers (that you can buy in most poor neighborhoods)? Is there a way to trace this enormous flow of cash that employers pay to the government? Does this go into the "Washington hooker fund"?

As you mentioned I cannot believe that Bill made me agree with Geraldo, I hate him even more for that. Seriously guys, I am from South Africa and O'Reilly even looks extreme to South Africans.

user-pic

i agree with andyo. i never liked geraldo, but billos' extreme take on the pompous windbag schtick left ol' geraldo (no stranger himself to pompous windbag-ism) smelling comparitively like a rose.

i think bill might be headed for a nervous breakdown or something. he gets worse and worse everytime i see him and if his career doesn't end in some melodramatic act of violence on the air i'll be surprised. when it does happen i'll be very dissappoited if he doesen't get his ass resoundingly kicked by whoever happens to be his victim that day. what a schmuck!

For Geraldo to look good, man that takes some doing... But Bill "Falafel-Boy" O'Reilly made it seem easy.

my god, be thankful that your immigration problem is mexicans who want to work in your country. and have a look at what european countries have to deal with. lots and lots of arabic people who think their culture is superior to ours and don't want to be integrated.

user-pic

Hrrmm..? In Sweden we HELP illegal immigrants? Not exactly my impression of how things work over here. For example: certain labor unions have made a habit of going around to working sites where they feel there may be illegal immigrants, if they see anyone suspicious (and "suspicious" in this case means black hair, and so forth) they then approach that worker and demand to see his papers. Nice? Helping people? Another example: in Sweden, unlike most european countries, children of illegal immigrants do not have a certain right to education, nor the right not to be harassed by police while in school (that is, if they somehow manage to get into a school). Further, illegal immigrants in Sweden may feel a little bit wary of visiting a hospital if they feel ill, or have broken an arm, since here it is not (again unlike most european countries) illegal for the hospital staff to call the police on them. However, it is true that the swedish average level of self-righteousness is impressively high.

Fair enough.. But we do tend to help out a LOT more..

I've seen this video several times already, and every time I just lose it laughing about half way through. Bill just goes into fascist mode going to new levels of insanity. I can't wait to see what Olbermann makes of this. Or Stewart and Colbert when they return from break.

In fact, this most likely will become something that will instantly cheer me up for a good long time to come.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE...

Why didn't Bill have Geraldo's mic cut??? He's losing his touch. That would have really sent a message to Geraldo that he was in the wrong. Next time Geraldo gets uppity Bill, cut his mic.

To Rickler: You may forget one thing... Statistical.. yes it means that % out of the total esteemated illegal immigrated population. Let me make clear that i dont like Bill or Geraldo.

Let say the illegal immigration crimes is 1% and lets says the rate is 1mill people. that makes it 100 000 II crimes..

Let say the local crime rate i 25% out of a local population of 250 000 that makes it 39062 LR crime..

I am agree with the point: Uneducated people have more tendency towards voilent crimes like killing, raping and so on...

But i am not agree that uneducated people is generally more criminal.. This is only depended on the moral of the "society" they grew up from.

sorry for my bad english

Awful. I couldn't listen to this. When people are screaming and interrupting one another, my ears just tune out both of them. And it's not just on FOX. This happens all too often on other news channels too, although this clip was particularly virulent. Chris Matthews screams. Pat Buchanan, who is a frequent guest on Scarborough, screams.

The televised news really sucks, except for PBS, C-SPAN, the BBC International, and the Mexican news.

And Keith Olbermann's show I like because I like his politics, but some aspects of his show are too goofy for me. But at least there's no screaming and interrupting on Countdown.

Can I call Bill O a big twat on this site?

Yes, you can even call him a cunt or a dick. But these lovely sexual organs have nothing in common with that moron.

I actually like how Geraldo Riviera handled that and I agreed with him.

I think this is a signal of the apocalypse. It's one of the four dark horsemen.

I never thought I'd ever have to type that. I feel sooo weird.

And BTW Controversyz i think you can call Bill a TWAT on this site, i've called plenty of people twats, and he's on my top 10 twats of all time list.

Oh man, I love, er, hate, rather love to hate Bill's debate strategy: 1. ask a loaded question 2. cut the guest off and don't let them finish their answer. 3. reduce the question to a yes or no. 4. Yell and point. 5. Call them a communist/atheist/hater of america

Wow. I had no idea they ate their own young.

Oh wait one more thing, Geraldo made one other great point. He said amidst the flapping jaw of O'Reilly, that people going door to door looking for illegals, and singling people out, has been historically tragic (ex. the Holocaust or Rwanda).

Bill O'Reilly is a twat to end all twats.

This is the "interview" strategy of the entire fox noise channel. Just listen to sean hannity or any of em.

"By passing this bill, is congress saying they hate america"

"well, they are trying to say that we have been there..."

"IT's A YES OR NO QUESTION SIR! Answer the question!"

Ugh. It's fun to hear it for the rediculousness of it, but makes me cry with how many people listen to it seriously.

my mom got hit by a drunk illigal alien driving a torn down chevy.

Having said that, Bill O is still wrong. It made no difference that he was illigal to me, what really mattered was that my mom was ok. What sucked was that the guy was of course not insured, which is one reason we should have some way for illigals to get insurance, like it or not they are here in the US, we asked them to come here, so we better deal with it.

Yes, you can even call him a cunt or a dick. But these lovely sexual organs have nothing in common with that moron.

I only find one of those lovely. The other one disgusts me, but I can't help but have one.

First generation immigrants may commit less crime but the children of those immigrants commit crime at a higher rate.

NY Times

"Astoundingly, in a recent paper, Rumbaut and several doctoral students found that the incarceration rate among second-generation Mexicans was eight times higher than for the first generation; among Vietnamese, it was more than 10 times higher. Where the first-generation immigrants in their data were less likely to wind up in prison than native-born whites, the second (with the exception of Filipinos and Chinese) were more likely."

Does Geraldo have his papers?

I don't think I've actually laughed so hard at a "News" clip in my life. That was pure genius.

NO ! NO ! YOU YOU NO NO YOU YOU NO NO !!! RAAARRRGHHHH

If Bill gets this upset over immigrants just imagine how he bursts a gasket while watching Keith Olbermann every night.

And anybody who isn't in favor of open processed and reasonable immigration, especially from Latin America and Asia who share many cultural mores with us, are tacitly approving the destruction of the American economy and America as the leader of the free world. Though I'd permit one to have reservations about people from Africa and the Middle East that weren't refugees.

I say send the Irish packing. On the boat, Bill!

FSM forgive me, I'm actually agreeing with Geraldo.

Holy shit! Wow, well, now we know why the ratings are so high on this channel - its not really informative BUT its hilarious!

How about they let me go on O'Reilly's disgrace of a show. I try to make a point and he butts in repeatedly. I continue and he starts to raise his voice. I make a mockery of his argument so he raises his voice to the screaming point. I calmly kick the living shit out of him on national television. While the EMT's try to revive him I put an eloquent finish on my argument and end with a cheerful, "Good night and good luck, America."

I caught the tail end of this exchange as I was channel surfing last night, and I wondered whether or not you would post it, and sure enough, you did.

I was quite surprised to see the two of the arguing.

Where is Olberman with a special comment on Bill O'Reily falling apart on TV. Between this and the smear campaign he is launching against Rosie for practicing free speach, his career is well on its way down the drain.

one word: pornography.

Come on people, let's be fair!Bill is obviously right. As much as I dislike the man, I'll have to agree with him. Let me give you an example. If your son breaks your house's window is not the same as having some stranger breaking it. The same with the law. If a citizen breaks the law we follow the appropriate venues to convict him/her, but if an illegal breaks it, we have every right to ask questions as to why are these people on the streets and not being deported or whatever the law says. When it comes to Sweden, there are twice as many illegal immigrants in the U.S. than the whole Swedish population, so don't come here to tell us how brave the Swedish are.

This actually happned in my area.

They where talking about it on our local radio channel and they where not too happy with O'Reilly.

O'Reilly got is facts wrong (nothing new .. eh). The illegal immigrate was actually convicted in Chesapeake (where I live and is right next to VA Beach).

That was one of their main beefs with him.

They questioned if he got his facts wrong here, would he get his facts wrong on other things?

Didn't have the chance to listen to it all, but people that called in where not too happy with old Billy

Hahah...there was a funny segment about this on the nightly news on CTV (canadian channel). They introduced the segment then showed them screaming at each other, and then the anchor said "O'Reilly and Geraldo, apparently, friends in real life", and then chuckled at the camera.

Im not a big fan of O'reilly, but if the law had been properly followed that girl would probably be alive today. This isn't about racism its about the law. Maybe some people use this issue as an excuse to be racist and thats to bad but the law is clear.

user-pic

If the guy in question was here legally, and hit someone while drunk, nobody would have cared.

If he was deported, or kept out entirely, and hit someone in Mexico while drunk, even fewer people would have cared.

I think that's as strong an argument for why being an illegal immigrant is crucial to this story. None of the rest of it would be noticed otherwise.

More on-topic, I would say that simply posting this video is serving one purpose: To laugh at Bill O' and Geraldo as they get into a verbal UFC match.

At least Back in Black was informative and instructive. The singular purpose Fox News aired the segment for is the same purpose you're (hopefully inadvertantly) perpetuating now: Laugh at the people, forget the point.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. THIS IS PROOF THAT BILL O'REILLY IS A FAKE!!!!!! HE DOES IT FOR RATINGS.

user-pic

If you watch the whole segment, doesn't it become clear that this is all staged and supposed to demonstrate Fox News' alleged "fairness and balance"? - Sure, what it really shows in the first place: This TV network lacks culture and civilization ...

Look, the problem is that no matter what the percentage of illegal-alien crime to citizen-crime may be, the fact is that these two young girls would still be alive if this illegal alien, who broke the law by just by being here let alone other arrests of alcohol related causes, had been either stopped from coming to America in the first place or deported when he was first arrested as an illegal alien.

Bill O'Reilly does seem like an idiot often and can escalate things to an unneeded level of yelling. However, I do have to agree with him that this ILLEGAL alien had absolutely no right to be here. That is the law - plain and simple. Geraldo is wrong because this issue is not about drunk drivers. Drunk driving is another problem in and of itself. The important thing to understand here is that if one does not think this illegal alien should have been deported before he killed these two girls, one does not believe in the law of the United States of America. The law against illegal immigrants is there so that we don't have Jo Blow come into America again and repeat 9/11. It's imperative, if only for national security's sake, that the U.S quell this problem of illegal immigration immediately. Illegal immigration hurts America, the fact is, these two girls would still be alive if illegal immigration was not a problem.

The issue isn't immigration law. The issue is the politicizing of a tragedy to serve an agenda external to the horrible fact that a drunk driver killed innocent people.

I myself was severely injured by a drunk driver several years ago; I have no sympathy for people who do such a thing. Was the driver who victimized me was an illegal immigrant? No. Would I have cared, or have thought even less of him if he were? Hell no. And I would be offended if anyone made an issue of that in the aftermath of my own ordeal.

Drunk driving and immigration law enforcement are separate issues.

Anyone is welcome to talk about the general implications of illegal immigrants who commit crimes, but I think using a specific tragedy as the only talking point is extremely callous and misguided.
