The author cites this poll question to support his point:

Keeping the current system where many people get their insurance from private employers and some have no insurance.'
I am always suspicious of polls because they are rarely conducted by uninterested parties. I believe the results of the poll would have differed dramatically if they had just asked:
1 Having one health insurance program covering all Americans. OR 2 Keeping the current system.
I feel this is an example of poisoning the well with the poll question and should not be cited as proof of anything other than the pollsters desired results.
