WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. DAWKINS.
I was reading about your emotions at the site of the telescope. It is so revealing psychologically and so apt from the mouth of a man who stands for what's best in man..his mind..his reason. I wonder if the theists of the world have ever felt a fraction of the pure exaltation you felt there. Thank you for being you.
norm, i think you're just great. i think dawkins is just great. this despite the fact that i disagree with both of you on many issues, and i'm sure the feeling is mutual.
question: does the phrase "cult of personality" mean anything to you? i'm sure it does to dawkins...and i believe he wouldn't support it.
regardless of my reservations, happy birthday, richard.
I'd wish him happy birthday, but I doubt he'll ever get to read this. Regardless, I can't help but wonder if he'd find excessive celebration and veneration of birth days irrational especially at a later stage of our lives. Finally, shouldn't pro-life people celebrate a different date since life begins at conception?
Dawkins is 5.58 Jovian years old. He is also almost 274 in Mercurian years.
He has persisted for 1.12*1050 Plack times, which is one two hundred and eight millionth of the age of the universe.
oooh I guess the tag doesn't work... 1050 = 10^50 in the above.
That certainly puts things in perspective. So many birthday presents on Mercury, so few on Jupiter.
Happy B-day Papa Bear!!!
A question:
What explains the failure of the mainstream media to cover the purge scandal for so long, and so many other scandals? Do you think somebody just set up newspaper editors to cheat on their wives, and threatened to tell if the editors wouldn’t play ball when they come back some day and ask for something?
It wouldn’t be that hard to do, when you think about it. People wouldn’t talk about it.
1) The mainstream media is still covering the purge scandal. MSNBC Hardball covered it yesterday. I'm sure if I watched the news nonstop I would have noticed more segments and/or reports on the issue. In either case, how is not covering it at all as opposed to covering with a positive spin as FOX often elects to do provides better crisis control for the current administration? 2) When I think about it it would be easier to offer money or other benefits than create an elaborate scheme to seduce editors for blackmail purposes. Is it possible? Yes, just as it's possible that the editor's first born children are being held at gunpoint at an undisclosed location in order to pressure them. What? No first born, yet? No wife either? Well, send out underage girls to seduce the editors. The crazy blackmail schemes are endless, but realistically money and ratings will provide a sufficient incentive.
