hee hee. that's pretty funny coming from nietzsche- the man who said (i paraphrase from memory)"when going to visit a woman, remember to bring your whip) and who's philosophy, which i love very much, could be summed up in alices' exclamation "you're nothing but a pack of cards!" :)
For those that don't know the phrase "your nothing but a pack of cards" was the device used by Carroll to transistion from the fantasy world to the real world. Speaking of the real world you might find this of interest.
whoa. i was a philosophy major, only for a year at the end there (switched 3 times), and not a very good one-i was, like most american college students at the time, more interested in sex, drugs and rock and roll. i USED to be fairly familiar with plato and kant, and i LOVED nietzche. i've never heard of covey, which makes it difficult to really appreciate or even understand your link there. but i know real intellectuals (with all the good and bad that implies) when i see 'em, and chris and dende are the real thing. i know when i'm beat- i couldn't really make heads or tails out of that, and it wasn't a problem with the text. i just don't have it anymore, i guess. i'm gonna go slit my wrists now.:( :)jk
Franklin Covey is one of many charlatans in the self-help industry. He wrote the book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People better know as The Seven Habits of Highly Annoying People Chris' piece was in response to Covey's description of the real world.
so that whole thing (including dendes' response) was meant to be HUMOROUS? boy, do i feel like a moron. nice one.
The points made by dende and Chris are serious, but yes the purpose was to trash the pompus Mr. Covey, and his simplistic world-view.
