The reaction from across the pond to the U.S. midterm elections.

"There is always the tendency of people in the outside world to see [the United States] as a monolith of some kind and for the last 5 years - 6 years there has been this tendency to characterise the monolith as a bunch of extreme, right-wing, Neanderthal, conservative Christians reeking havoc in the Middle East in order to fulfil prophecies in the Book of Revelation to enable Armageddon and the Rapture. I mean, which is of course a wild over statement of it, but there is some truth to that. At least now this week people are seeing that a slight majority of Americans are as angry with the Bush administration as many of their - most of their counterparts in western Europe, though of course much less angry than most of their counterparts in the Muslim world."
