Is The Bible Inerrant?
Bart Ehrman author of Misquoting Jesus is interviewed as part of the New York Times, 'Great Read in the Park' event. It is remarkable to me that those who profess belief in the book as being the literal word of God have so little knowledge of its origins.

Fascinating interview, Norm. I remember, decades ago, when I started understanding that the Bible wasn't inerrent (as I had been taught in the fundie version of the Lutheran church I was brought up in). It really shook me up back then. I had the same response to watching Joseph Campbell in the "Power of Myth" series - when I understood that Jesus = Osiris = Mithras, lather, rinse, repeat.
Thought provoking. I'm so glad to be liberated.
Ehrman is great. I have listened to every one of his Teaching Company lectures, on gnosticism, and the origins of christianity and the bible. Absolutely fascinating and enlightening stuff.
Speaking from a fundamentalist perspective - isn't it reasonable to accept that the changes made to the text of the Bible (not errors) are made at the instigation of God in order to meet the challenges of changing social circumtances? God is, after all, omnipotent.
"god" explained on the "Lucky Louie" show.

Colbert's interview with Bart Ehrman:
Colbert: Do you believe in God?
Ehrman: I'm not sure.
Colbert: Really?
Ehrman: Yeah
Colbert: So you're an agnostic.
Ehrman: That's right.
Colbert: Isn't that just an atheist without balls?
LMAO!
