Pretty Lame
Pretty lame indeed, the 'value' party requires a law to do the right thing.

I'd pay money to fix that law in the books, it's better then money being wasted to make an eyesore for the whole population to see. Not only has televised slander become a factor of politics, it's become a tradition. I see now why the 2 partys are represented by an elephant and a donkey, basicly elections are an argument to see who the bigger ass is.

I for one have seen little moral virtue from either party. This frustrates me, but not against the GOP. It just reminds me that the ideals of noble servitude to one's nation are dead among anyone who has the money to blow on being elected. I've given up on the system, but I haven't lost the faith in ideals.

Looking at Mehlman's face leads me to conclude that he's a heavy smoker ... he'll need the stress-buster for all that spin his jobs requires.

For some countries outside the US (like Switzerland) it's an odd thing that politicians and parties are allowed to advertise on TV and, even worse(!), are allowed to make counter-advertising agains an opponent! Both is not permitted here, you'll have to have some good arguments to win the people's votes, not shiny images and disowning messages.

Ok, I know I sound dumb but I played the ad back to back for 10 times now and still can't get the race angle (May be the fact that I am not an American has something to do with it).
Could some body please explain what is wrong with the ad(other than the fact that it is a classic right wing smear).
Thanks, Anil

Hey Norm,
Are you going to continue posting your videos as direct links? Cause that would be majorly awesome. OneGoodMove was one of the last three reasons why I sometimes switched over to Windows (now using Gnu+Linux). If now you would also start encoding in Xvid and offer your stuff as .OGG (or [gasp!] .OGM :D) this site here would not longer be like heaven sometimes, but like heaven allthetime.
Keep up the awesome work. (Must remember to donate soon.)

Unbelievable, He's been caught yet he acts like HE'S the one doing the catching.

"Blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah. I think blah blah blah blah blah - blah blah blah blah blah. And further, so as not to answer your question, blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."

I don't blame non-Americans for not getting the real point of the Corker ad. In fact I almost don't blame people who haven't lived in the South. To get the point you need context.
What's the context? Ford will be the first black man ever elected to the Senate in the South by popular vote, and outside of Reconstruction. We're kidding ourselves if we think that there is not racist resistance to a first like that. If that kind of racism didn't exist then they would already be Southern blacks in the Senate.
What is historically, the most potent way to activate that racism and get white Southerners in a rage against a black man? Suggest the idea of sex between a black man and a white woman. It's a standard instrument of moral panic in the South, and it's been used again and again and again. Any person familiar with this history and careful to avoid racism would steer way clear of this ploy. A mile away. So there is about a 10% chance that the makers of the Corker ad are simply dumb and didn't realize what they are doing. But 90% of the time people in politics are not that dumb.
Admittedly the message is covert. The country does not accept racism openly but it goes on secretly. That's the whole point behind coded language about interracial sex, the evils of integration, the 'betrayal' of the South by 'uppity' blacks and white liberals. Trent Lott said that if it weren't for integration we wouldn't have "all of these problems"--is he too dumb to give any specifics? No, he was being deliberately vague because he knew that many white Southerners could fill in the blanks. All of these problems=crime, welfare queens, the depraved youth culture, etc. People who really understand the way the game of American politics is played--people like Chris Matthews, for all his flaws--understand exactly what is going on in the Corker ad. There may be others who understand but play dumb because they have a campaign to win.

I'm trying it out to see what effect it has on my bandwidth. I didn't do it before now since I previously didn't have anyway to prevent hot-linking.

Well, since I watch videos on your site over and over again, it would actually have a positive effect on your bandwidth from my point of view ;)
Have you considered a pod/netcast? I'm not sure about your model of financing, but I think its worth considering.

No Ken, the real question is, are you in, or out, of the closet? The longer you remain in, the more embarassing it'll be if and when you come out.
