Keith's Special Comment, Terrorism

A Special Comment from Keith Olbermann this one on the terrorism visited upon the American people not by al Qaeda, but by George W. Bush and the Republican party. Keith says "the president needs to pull over and ask for directions." The problem is that George doesn't know how to take directions. What we need is a change of course, a new driver, and since that's not possible until 2008 we'll have to do with a change in the supporting cast. A change from the Stay the Course Republicans to the Change the Course Democratic majority. When you're going the wrong direction Mr. President you don't stay the course you change the course. If you can't do it on your own you'll have to rely on the American voter to do it for you.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Ouch, Olbermann keeps it coming. Heh, that whole definition of terrorism has been discussed since 2002, if not earlier. Olbermann could have done, however, without the last three minutes or so dealing with the manhole discovery.

Keith Olbermann is my frakkin hero.

An Ode to Keith Olberman

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, Keith preaches hate from day to day. To the last syllable of recorded time; And all his yesterdays have duped the fools. The fallacy: ad hominem attacks. Out, Out brief candle! You're but a walking shadow, a poor player Who struts and frets his hour upon the screen, And then is heard no more; another tale Told by an idiot full of fire and venom. Contributing nothing.

I got goosebumps.

Skip the poetry and debate the facts Syngas, prove him wrong or your post means nothing.

Syngas, nice rework of Macbeth, or should I say MacBush? That is actually a perfect comparison. Bush, as in MacBeth, has such a staunch avarice, he’ll commit murder at any cost. But, he’s too big of a chicken-hawk to do it himself so he has his wife do it for him. You notice Laura is hitting the campaign trail hard these days?

I love Keith Olbermann! What a great point! This administration is using these terrorists as their spokesmen? Paying exorbitant tax payer money to have their message delivered into our living rooms and for 5 years this administration has ignored them? For shame, indeed!

Actually, Bush (The President of The United States) explains, on national T.V., that his strategy in Iraq has never been “stay the course.” So he must be telling the truth, right? That gosh-darn, media! Always makin’ stuff up!

I fucking love that man!

Keith you inspire all of us to stand up a fight for those who cannot fight and for what is right!

Keep preaching my brother!

"The fallacy: ad hominem attacks. Out, Out brief candle! "

yay, irony!

Thanks Evazan and Jeff, I actually wrote that over a month ago on my blog and was shocked to hear Keith use the same Macbeth poem in his commentary. I felt I had to share it. I don't think this is a forum designed for actual debate but if you'd like to debate with a sinful, hypocritical white Christian, feel free to visit my Myspace blog - same user name.

you must be insane Syngas

Syngas - there's nothing to debate.

One: The failures of George Bush and his neo-Fascist cabal are self-evident.

Two: Debate who -- an anonymous snipe?

At least someone in the media has the balls to tell the truth

Sygnas i love the poem.

Keith Olberman's ratings are in the tank, so he has to try to sire up controversy to boost his ratings. Most rational thinks don't want to hear that America is a terrible country, and that is all that Keith preaches. He, like Phil D., will soon go the way of the dinosaurs

Check out Ernest Becker's "Denial of Death" and you will have read Bush & Co game plan.

I wonder what Keith and the rest of us will do if the republicans actually win this upcomming election? I vote for moving out of the country and claiming political asylum.

whats wrong with constructive critisism of some legacy posterboy?

Keith is a great spokesman for the people out there that question what this administration is doing. I do not consider myself Republican or Democratic, but the unnecessary war, greed, and poor moral character of this country makes me truly sick. All Keith is doing is pointing out where America is headed and what kind of person is running the country. Don't hate the messenger.

"Naturally the common people don't want war, but after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." - Hermann Goering, Hitler's Reich-Marshall.

Syngas and matt, He has NEVER said ANYTHING about hating the U.S. In fact he loves it enough to remain and fight for us to be the truly great country we are by using our greatest gift as Americans... free speech! His ratings in the tank??? He has higher ratings than O'Reilly! How is that in the tank??? Look something up before blathering like an uninformed partisan hack for once! Make a valid counter point, argument, anything logical and specific against anything he said... otherwise, you just make yourself sound foolish.

It is pretty obvious that sygas and his ilk have no logical position to argue from. Likes, made up 'facts', and nonsensical retorts, are all they have. Truely, all they have.

Typo, that shuld read, "lies, made up facts, and nonsensical retorts"

They have to make it up because reality doesn't support them. The truth is against them and history will condemn this whole bunch as the evil, violent minded cowards that they are.

Wow! Not much hate in this room eh?

Quite an amazing summary

You're confusing hate with contempt.

I stand amazed! Amazed and heartened to see any reference to "Denial of Death," and can only emphasize that it is unquestionably one of the most penetrating and important books you are likely to ever read.

Anyone that doesn't realize that Bush has lied through his teeth numerous times about, well, everything, obviously has no grasp on reality. This administration has no respect for the people that it has sworn to protect (I feel REAL safe with our Clown In Chief running things). No respect for us whatsoever.

And you know what? I feel exactly the same way toward the administration. I have no respect for them (those in power). None.

Thank god for Olbermann! Somebody that has access to mass media has to tell things the way it is.

For some conservatives, "hate speech" is criticizing the beloved leader (or "culture warrior" in Bill O'Reilly's case) in an angry way. For the rest of us, hate speech is speech intended to humiliate, degrade and strike fear into a whole disadvantaged segment of the population. While the latter is always contemptible, the former is very often good and necessary.

One thing that even Keith won't mention here is the possibility that Al Qaida really doesn't have the capability to launch more attacks on the United States (also: the neglected remains are Bush's fault? I don't buy it, and I don't know what that has to do with 'protecting us').

The director of the FBI is quoted as saying that he most worried about the terrorist cells "which we don't know about". Why would he say that? Likely: he really doesn't know about very many actual Al-Qaida cells, but remains convinced--despite the paucity of evidence--that Europe and the U.S. are crawling with them. There is no question that there are Islamists who would like to pull off a serious attack in the U.S. They've done it in Europe since 9/11. But it's not an easy thing to do, and there is little evidence that they are on the verge of doing it. If there really are terrorist threats out there being foiled all the time, why pump up bogus pranks? The public facts about the war on terrorism fit the notion that international, anti-American Islamist terrorism is now and has been since the 1990s a determined movement which can nevertheless pull off a major attack in the U.S. only once a decade, and an attack on U.S. foreign interests every 2 or 3 years or so.

"you just make yourself sound foolish."

Why use a supertanker when a nutshell will do ;)

Bush talks to us like we are dumb. Keith talks to us like we are smart.

Bush appeals to the masses, Keith and his ilk to the upper crusts. Unfortunately, pieces like this are just preaching to a pretty small choir.

Also, Keith needs to stop with the "You sir!...Shame on you!" We know this guy oozes indignation but he needs to shake it up a bit.

Syngas: My man! (Or woman?)

Anton: Don't let the proverbial door hit you on the ass on the way to France, or wherever.

Im just pointing out that a republic victory is still more than possible. What do the democrats do if they lose? And if they win? Will they try to repeal the legislation Bush had passed? I doubt it.

An Ode to Syngas:

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, Syngas preaches shoves his head further up his ass.

Thanks Awesome,

Was that hate or contempt?

"We have nothing to fear but fear itself" - not a bad maxim, but I think we should shorten it to "We have nothing to fear." Why? Because when your thoughts, words, and deeds are based on fear, you may as well be running around blind with no training for such a condition.

The Goering quote and history are telling.

To all liberals and leftists; just because you disagree with someone, it does not make them the devil and you a saint! George Bush has been called a fascist and worse for doing what he thinks is right. I don't believe he does what he does because he hates his own country! I challenge anyone to show proof that President Bush has evil intentions for the United States of America!

Right On Olberman, he is my hero finally a news person speaks out the truth from they're heart. His words are beyond partisan they are a warning to us that if we don't act now, then we will lose everything America is about. Olberman is Edward R. Murrow reincarnated just when we need him most.
