lol Hes such a dick.
Watch him cause the little pipsqueak to squirm.
That is ignorance at it's best.
Classic Tweety. Clearly he sized up Hackett and Taylor, and immediately sided with strength against weakness. He's like the kid in high school who attaches himself to the tough kids in the hopes that he'll be viewed as tough as well. Remember the way he slavishly licked Bush's codpiece during the "Mission Accomplished" photo-op. Matthews might be on my side for the duration of this eight minutes, but I still want to punch him in the face. He makes me sick.
At any rate, the real question here is whether or not the Democrats will learn anything from Hackett's performance. I wouldn't put any money on it . . .
wow, what a guy huh? it's a shame that with america's current thirst for instant gratification, most likely van taylor will have a good chance of making it to wherever it is he wants to go (straight in bush's pocket).
"soundbite!"
That empty dipshit Van 'Soundbite' Taylor is a perfect example of the strategy of the Republican party- everyone's an idiot so I can repeat my soundbites and they'll never see the truth. Sad thing is, nothing's changed since the fascists have taken over the White House. Where was the "outrage" six years ago?
Gee "Mr." Taylor if you want to "support our troops" then bring them home so they aren't getting killed
I am an avid redditor and have a lot of friends interested in topics discussed and videos uploaded here. And we all hate .mov videos.
Can onegoodmove.org PLEASE switch to flash? (Like AlterNet.org )
( Or at least upload the video to YouTube. Or have a downloadable video file..)
Thank you, Sid
Damn. Taylor got slapped around like a Texas whore in that segment. I'm not usually a fan of Matthews, but kudos on that one.
Why don't the dems want Hackett to run? Do they want to keep losing or do they want to keep "staying the course?" Or both...?
Thanks for the great post. It's refreshing to hear someone rip the GOP talking points a new one . It's sad that guy isn't going to get a chance to do it in the senate.
"Can onegoodmove.org PLEASE switch to flash?"
No
If you have Quicktime Pro it is a simple matter to save the video to your computer.
"Terror is a strategy, not a philosphy... you can't destroy a strategy."
Now this pisses me off. This is something I, and I'm sure many others, have been thinking about since this entire "War on Terror" soundbyte was born several years ago. Why is that only now that this is being questioned on the news? Geez, they do come around, but they sure come around slow.
Taylor avoids Chris' first question: Were we right to go into Iraq?
And dives straight into why we must stay to finish the job.
How can anyone avoids the reasons for doing something and focuses on why we must finish doing it?
So much for a straight talking non-flip flopper Bush admnistration.
Hackett was very impressive.
This is a little off the topic but - What was that? at the end of the clip? "Send Money? to {Charod? Something) Brown, we hope he is the next Senator for Ohio". I'm not from the States and I might be mis-interpreting but wouldn't the appropriate action be to vote for Mr Brown?
1) In order to get the vote of people who are less informed, you simply have to have money. Without the publicity that money can buy, one has virtually no shot of being heard by the masses.
2) That was a nationally aired show, but Brown is running in Ohio. Therefore, most of the people watching couldn't vote for Brown even if they wanted to. But they could send money to help his campaign.
@Norm, may I suggest that if you want to keep quicktime, that you just link to .MOVs instead of embedding .MOVs which are just pictures which react on a click? the problems range between searching the html source code for the mov-link to browser crashes.
Sure, Barry, vote for him if you're in Ohio, but if you're not, then send him money so he has a better campaign stash.
@Barry, that indeed sounds strange if you live in a country with a democracy with a focus on multiple parties. US politicians are loosly coupled with their parties and run their own campaigns, which they need money for. plus, senators have influence on national politics but are elected by state. so most of the viewers of a program on national TV cannot vote for a candidate, but can only support him by sending money.
My god! Not since Kathrina (or Jon Stewart) have I seen a US media with balls.
Please tell me that this is the shape of things to come.
Hackett ends with the administration has no strategy but he has no strategy. He just wants to leave. You can't leave Iraq and hope they will work it out. Yes, the reasons for war were flawed. Yes al-qeada is in Iraq cause the US is. But if Iraq fails then the rest of the Middle East will enter a period of turbulence. Iran will attempt to take control and Isreal will be drawn into a protracted battle. The Middle East is too important to just walk away from. We liberated them and now we have to finish the job.
Paul Hackett is completly right... I do not know if the other guy is ignorant or trying to bend the truth... but the fact is, everything Paul Hackett said should be looked at carefully!
Kali Yuga is absolutely right, Tweet is a bully. Only a week or so ago he cheered Ann Coulter, now he's kicking some empty shirt around, and when Dubya comes up with some other fake threat he'll be fawning about the "decisiveness of the President". Watching Matthews doing some liberal dance is like sweet candy: it tastes good for a minute -but it's not healthy..
And goddamn kudos to Hackett's loyalty to the party!! Watch out, Loserman!
Barry: It's a national TV program. If you're not a resident of Ohio, you can't vote for Mr. Brown; hence the plea for money.
I agree with the movie format problem. I can watch at work, but not on my computer at home (Windows 98 -- stop laughing, please).
I watched it again. Its hilarious.
His expression when Matthews says "Do you agree with the president" its like that episode of Star trek where Kirk asks some super robot some question that contridicts itself and ends up exploding.
To bad no one in the news asked why we were going to war before we went. Way to be tuff Matthews, 3 year too late.
That was amusing, to say the least.
We need to win the war on the English language. Part of Taylor's soundbite "strategy" included repeating the word "forment." What the idiot meant to say was foment, not forment.
hackett made an excellent point, the war is over - and there is a civil war - but our participation should be called by its proper name: an occupation.
BTW, please keep the quicktime links, it's way better than .wmv
If congressional canidate Van Taylor believes so strongly about fighting Al Queda in Iraq, maybe he should back it up by putting his ass in harms way and kicking some insurgent butt. Otherwise STFU.
