Poor Picked On Fox

The right-wing tries to create controversy where there is none. Case in point the Emmys. You know the insensitive liberals, how could the Emmys have a clip of a plane crash on the same day as a plane crash, as if it were a last minute decision just to create some additional pain for those who had lost someone in Kentucky. What was John Kasich thinking, all the families would be grieving while watching the Emmys? Watch him doing his best to follow the demonize the liberals script that gets replayed daily on right-wing radio and television.

wow...

"clearly they could have taken the clip out of this"

I guess you DO understand what the joke was.

and "Why always Fox news?"

"I guess this is Holywood"?

I don't want to go further...

What's really sad is that most folk get their news from TV and get spoon fed this crap night after night. It poisons the soul.

Foxnews Martyr Complex http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyr_complex

It feeds a psychological need.

A martyr complex can be a tendency to feel that one is being singled out for persecution. It is often characterized by the belief that one's persecution is the result of exceptional integrity.
That's my cold-reading.

What is the name of the presentator, en where is bill.

"Jeannie, Jeannie, your stretching here"!?? WTF? It's really hard to tell whether these twits are nuts or just really evil.

Yeah, seriously. Who's stretching things?

user-pic

well, Fox news got what it deverved, mere contempt. As a french, I feel insulted almost anytime I watch their programs. At first I thought "well, it's ok, they are right-wing nuts" but afterwards I realized that some people actually give credit to such crap and consider my home country as corrupted, worthless and irrelevant without even having set a foot in Europe. Superfrenchie from France but living in the US is trying to debunk all that french-bashing from american MSM, especially from Fox news, trough his website (in English) www.superfrenchie.com or at www.miquelon.org (also in english) As fas as the plane crash, I think it was a mere coincidence.

How are these things even related?

I didn't even hear about a plane crash until Monday morning. As Jon Stewart has said, the normal people "have shit to do"

All of the opening bits were hillarious.

French bashing? I thought you were all friends now? Didn't they return French Fries to the capital canteen?

I had to laugh with the comment "Why are they always picking on Fox?".

Not that Hume would have done anything differently, but that's not Hume.

What a great idea, let a Fox mouthpiece host the Emmy's. Having Shawn Hannity as the host would give the chirping crickets so much air time.

I think he really believes that "Hollywood" is a group of people who are all out to get him.

Fox News pours poison into the ears of its listeners nonstop. That segment was 4-5 minutes long and it was a complete piece of shit with zero news value--pretty much their entire business plan. It is difficult to be optimistic about our country's future when so many people rely on this source for information. It is like the old Soviet propaganda ministry with better music and graphics.

What a full-on wanker. Like nothing real happened in the United States, Fox has to go around inventing controversies. And some people think it's strange that I don't watch tv...

CJ, Thanks for the correction. You're right it is John Kasich. I've now corrected the post. Scary isn't it they are all starting to not only sound the same but to look the same.

Id like to see someone without a sense of humor host the emmys. That would be a riot. the barbarian is a funny man, but c'mon guys. You know as well as i do that the funniest laughs come from someone who has been hung out to dry.

Lets invite that loser here, and have our way with him.

UFC status.

I lost a cousin in that plane crash. I thought that it was definitely out of taste and Could have been edited in about 5 minutes of work. Fox News didn't really create the controversy, the NBC network affiliate were the ones to freak out.

As a lifelong Lexingtonian who had a friend lose their fiance in Sunday's crash I was not offended by the Emmy's opening...because I wasn't watching it!! I was talking to others who were too busy grieving to catch this years pointless awards show. Leave it up to FOX to spin this outta control. The sad part is the more people that hear this shit (especially in the red state of KY) the more people will believe it. I live three miles from the airport and could've cared less about some Conan O'Brien "Lost" spoof...to me they are totally unrelated.

Did he say "how Bush"? I could have sworn he said "how Bush"...

You know they tell these clowns not to think too much about an issue. That way it's all gut reaction and emtional responses above logic. That makes for better television apparently.

Gee, Frenchie, want some whine with that cheese?

French people get a free pass for everything. Race riots in your country? Everyone pretends it didn't happen. Stealing tons of cash through the UN? Ignore it! Banning 'English' terms like 'email'? 'ave some more wine, monsieur. Sending no soldiers to Palestine? Vive la France!

Meanwhile in the US some blowhards change the name of French Fries to Freedom Fries and we're still taking crap for it years later.

Yeah, you guys have it so tough.

Fox News didn't really create the controversy, the NBC network affiliate were the ones to freak out

Actually there had been no controversy until the scandal monger Drudge posted it at his site. Drudge is the semi-official outlet for Republican talking points. This story is 99% manufactured in my opinion.

John I think I caught what you did as well - I think he was using that as shorthand for "Bullshit".

"But I'll tell ya, I just thought it was bush [bullshit] and if hollywood's so magic you know just clean it up"

David Kasich is easily one of the dumbest people on the FOX payroll. I can see why Bill likes him so much... he looks more reasonable by comparison.

"Scary isn't it they are all starting to not only sound the same but to look the same."
Yes it is. You'll note that I couldn't come up with his name either - just that he wasn't Hume.

The Onion said it best about the inappropriate nature of joking about the misfortune of others.

To A_Joe:

Try visiting France instead of parroting a bunch of dumb anti-French cliches. How about just taking a baby step and getting a passport? The world is a big, fun place if you can part with your provincialism and prejudice.

"Gee, Frenchie, want some whine with that cheese?" haha, got the joke... have you ever tasted french wine or cheese? no?

"Race riots in your country? Everyone pretends it didn't happen." Who did?

"Stealing tons of cash through the UN? Ignore it!" they were the only ones of course. evil ones.

"Banning 'English' terms like 'email'? 'ave some more wine, monsieur." "no spanish anthem"

"Sending no soldiers to Palestine? Vive la France!" you meant Lebanon? They have more soldiers there than the US does. And they sent more help to the palestinians than the US (through the EU)

Some are arrongant and self-centered yes, and its government sometimes is a joke, but at least they are not a threat to world peace. (i did went to France and i know a lot of french people). Prejudice is quite a bad thing.

How very "liberal" of him to equate Bush with Bullshit - LOL

LeftBanker said // To A_Joe:

Joe_Average in France? LOLOL!!!! Oh, no, I can't picture that.

Simple Joe says // Race riots in your country? Everyone pretends it didn't happen //

Care to elaborate on this, genious? The American media took a few incidents and blew it up all out of proportion. But then, Simple Joe doesn't read any of the international reports, so all he knows is what is spoon-fed to him by places such as Little Green Footballs and the American media, so what more could one expect?

user-pic

holy bush. if they had edited that out, the fox news story would have been about "liberals" crazy obsession with political correctness.

what is the inference here? that Hollywood is so self-centered they don't care so they thought the h@ll with the way others feel? I thought the problem was that liberals were a bunch of bleeding hearts and were always trying to be all PC. Or is that just liberals in general but not Hollywood liberals?

The messaging seems to be getting a little muddy. Perhaps Rove could give us a refresher course. For example, I know there is a problem with some liberals having too much money - I think that's what they mean by "limosine liberals" and they didn't like that Kerry had money...but then there is also a problem with welfare liberals who think they are going to be supported by conservatives with handouts. Unless, of course, the message is d@mned if you do, d@mned if you don't -- but wait - all liberals are d@mned anyway, aren't they?

And, the comment that the French get a free pass? What would that free pass be for and who is it from? Is that because the US press doesn't give them enough coverage? (Although, I'm sure they have gotten a lot of coverage in the French papers.) Okay - so, are we to put the French problems before or after Iraq, Katrina, the deficit, illegal Presidential activities, Republican scandals, etc.

And, I see where the French language purity efforts are a good reason for our government and a news station to spew out racist, Francophobe statements. I think the Chinese and Russians are having some big problems with "loan words" also so we better get on them.

Funny how people can get so wrapped up in their language as some form of nationalism. Now, would that have been before or after Bush felt it necessary to comment on people singing the anthem in Spanish?

I all corporate television news for thier asinie "debates/discussions" and watered down or hyped up stories that are for ratings.

I especially love faux for its simple bat shit craziness.

Im glad Ive cancelled my cable subscription and thrown away my TV.

wow what a faggot! That prick from fox news can shut his fucking mouth. People are wayy too fucking up tight in this world, things happen and people need to learn to calm the fuck down! lol so yeah warhol, Oberst, basquiat for life!

I'm pretty sure he said bush'. Short for bush league; meaning amateurish.

bush league: (plural bush leagues)n 1. baseball minor league: a minor league in baseball
2. second-rate activity: a sphere of activity for those who cannot compete with the best a lawyer in the bush leagues

All a pathetic attempt at liberal bashing. He did seem to be more concerned with defending Fox against attacks than bashing Conan's opening & didn't even acknowledge that NBC got the worst of it. He probably hadn't actually seen the show.

jill bryant said // And, the comment that the French get a free pass? What would that free pass be for and who is it from? Is that because the US press doesn't give them enough coverage? //

David Letterman, Jay Leno and even the humor of Avery Ant attacked the French after 9/11. Far from a free pass, the French are often vilified by Americans, most often by the right-wing conservative press, but also occasionally by the left. Free pass my ass.

Remember O'Reilly's boycott of French products? Remember Letterman and Leno's jokes about the French? Aware of the constant attack by right-wingers who say that the French are cheese-eating-surrender monkeys? Are you aware of the website FuckFrance.com? The French are not ignored, they are vilified.

user-pic

Thanks Jo Ann, Leftbanker or Jurek. I just fear that francophobia becomes the norm in the US because of Coulter, O'Reilly and Leno to cite a few names... I don't really blame those who posted anti-french comments here, except those who tell BS like "race riots"! (it wasn't race riots, it was suburbs riots which make a big difference, but of course, it's less sensational) You have the right to disagree our government, but before telling such nonsense, BRING FACTS. If I were brainwashed with Leno's "surrendering frenchies" jokes all the time for instance, I don't know if I could possibly view the french otherwise... Worse, children are likely to take that crap for granted since parents and grown-ups implicitely agree. It's teaching hate, contempt and intolerance, I'm sorry. In France, you can't target a particular country or a particular people in the media, it's illegal. In my country, we know all about O'Reilly's "boycott french products", Coulter's "attack France" or Leno's "funny jokes", but we don't really care, the world is a disaster, it's useless making it even worse. Still, it hurts... Anyway, I enjoyed my glass of "vin d'Alsace" plus my toasted french bread covered with "Gruyères cheese"! Want some average_joe??

This is so incredibly dumb.

I hope no one thought I posted anything anti-French. I was questioning Joe Average's statement with what I thought was sarcasm but maybe I was so obtuse only I knew what I meant (that has happened.)

Anyway - only the ignorant will go for the anti-French comments --- and, yes, I know that probably isn't a comforting thought if you were hoping for a small minority.

The sad part is that the talking heads over at FOX seem to believe that they are actual, non-biased reporters. For them to spew hatred of democrats 24/7 is not news, it's just wrong. I'm glad they are finally getting called on it more often.

"Okay - so, are we to put the French problems before or after Iraq, Katrina, the deficit, illegal Presidential activities, Republican scandals, etc."

I have to agree with Norman Mailer, who said genius is the ability to simultaneously hold two opposing thoughts in one's mind.

The idea is not to put French scandals in front of our own. The point is that the French fuck up too. But the thing is, although we rag on them for being complete pussies, they have much more character and backbone in one area: I've never heard a French person say to an American in any conversation, "Oh I'm so embarassed to be French". So-called intelligent people in our country are always apologizing when they meet a European - even Canadians (fake Europeans). It's some weird fetishism the American intelligentsia have for Europe, an automatic mental kow-tow to an imagined superior race. Kind of like how video game players generally like anything Japanese.

The Americans who generally comment here have no such backbone or character: it's all trendy, cookie-cutter cynicism. You guys always try to rebuke the 'anti-American' line by saying you do what you do out of love for your country. So how many of you have a single American flag? When was the last time you defended your country in one of these time-wasting blog conversations?

So, in closing to Frenchie McFrench: France ain't that fuckin' great but if you like it there that's cool. And next time you whine about media this and that, remember that you're doing exactly what you're decrying: judging a country by what you see in the media you receive.

And to answer your question, I've had Bordeaux, but I prefer Merlot.

yeah, yall have never heard of bush league? but anyway thats typical fox news for you, bash, bash, bash, and play the sympathy card at the same time. they try to relate 2 things that are totally unrelated. if anybody is using the crash (in KY) in a fucked up way, its them.

I'm still giggling rembembering all the jabs at Fox at the latest freerepublic and NRA conventions...!

From my experience the use of stereotypes is a direct correlation to ones ignorance.

Sorry if you find it unpatriotic for a citizen to question one's government but that is what being an American is all about. It's amazing to me how little some people in this country know about it's history. It takes more "backbone" to question than to silently go along with the majority.

"Sorry if you find it unpatriotic for a citizen to question one's government but that is what being an American is all about."

You know the difference between persistence and bullheadedness? Here's a hint: it has to do with listening to and understanding what the person opposing you is saying.

It takes a serious thick skull to just let it roll off your back unheeded and respond with this boilerplate template.

But I guess that's my mistake for thinking it's about anything other than your ego. Right?

So how many of you have a single American flag? When was the last time you defended your country in one of these time-wasting blog conversations?

You talk about defending your country via a blog conversation and yet you call the French pussies? I defended my country by serving in the USAF, or is that not patriotic enough for you? I don't have a "weird fetishism" concerning Europe, or any other country (even my own)--but I do try to know something about a subject before spouting off.

Being a patriotic American doesn't mean being a xenophobic twit with a "Support Our Troops" magnet on your Escalade. I think that the whole jingoistic "America is the best damn country on earth" crowd is doing this country a huge injustice. This is a great country, but we can observe and learn a great deal by being open-minded to how other countries deal with their problems. If you have traveled much in Europe instead of just accepting what Fox News tells you about it, you would see that in areas such as mass transit and health care there is much we can learn from their societies. The same with urban architecture, city planning, and many more things, but how would you know?

As far as your ignorant rant about France "getting a pass" for the riots, I don't even know what the fuck that means. If you read the French press you would know that they have done quite a bit of agonizing over their problems of immigration and integration. Why should we put French scandals in front of our own? What should we do? Invade France because some kids set a few cars on fire? News flash to the world: France has problems.

France in an ally; we share a very similar set of values with that ally; we desperately need allies. What could be more patriotic than supporting an ally? What could be more anti-American than not supporting an ally?

Joe do you read what you type before hitting the post button?

@Average_Joe

"And to answer your question, I've had Bordeaux, but I prefer Merlot."

Dude, if you want to impress us with your vinology skills you really should not compare a wine region (Bordeaux) with a grape variety (Merlot).

Actually you better keep your mouth shut, since AOC Bordeaux is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet.

Show Transcript:

FOX NEWS: WHAAAAAA!!! WHY THEY PICK ON FOX?? WHAAAA!!!

GUEST: Because you're right wing facists who lie and churn out neocon propaganda on a daily basis.

FOX NEWS: Why do you hate America?

"Dude, if you want to impress us with your vinology skills you really should not compare a wine region (Bordeaux) with a grape variety (Merlot)."

I really think there is nothing more satisfying then when one of you pasty, effete, pompous little assholes get up on your soapbox and speak stupidity with the utmost conviction.

Let me refer you to a dictionary:

Bordeaux: any of various wines produced in the region surrounding Bordeaux.

Merlot: A dry red wine made from the Merlot grape, defined as 'a dark-blue grape used in winemaking, esp. in the Bordeaux region of France and in areas of Italy, Switzerland, and California.'

Also, there is no singular 'Bordeaux' wine - there are many varieties, some pure, some blended. Again I quote: "Bordeaux wines are classified on the basis of a hierarchy of those geographical areas known to produce the finest wines. These geographical areas were identified in 1855 and distinguished no fewer than 61 types of Bordeaux wine."

You'll notice the difference between you and I: I speak fact to make a point. You talk out of your ass to feel superior to people. Do most people not call you on your ignorance?

I imagine now you're blushing a nice shade of Merlot yourself.

Jackass.

Well that answers my question.

@average_joe

You should have taken my advice and kept your mouth shut. You only made things worse :/

Ha ha ha! LOL! ROFLMAO!!

Average_Joe just doesn't get it, does he? He goes to all this trouble to further advance the point that Leon was making and doesn't even realize it.

Guess you're right Dar. He certainly does not think before hitting the post button.

Another great line from Average_Joe is "So how many of you have a single American flag?" Oh my, what a dumb-ass question.

Jo Ann, that was a hilarious exchange.

But out of sympathy, Average _joe may be more familiar with the US terms for grading of wines i.e. Reserve and Grand Reserve.

"Average_Joe just doesn't get it, does he? He goes to all this trouble to further advance the point that Leon was making and doesn't even realize it."

Normally I wouldn't respond to you bitter dregs of this shallow barrel of intelligence, but there's something about the pathetic exaltation you seem to derive from your imaginary victories that asounds me. I guess that's all your type have - childish protestation that you were right all along, even in the face of evidence of your stupidity and ignorance.

To recap for you slow-wits, Leon insinuated that it is incorrect to compare two types of wine if one is named after a region and the other is named after a grape. Which is as stupid as saying one cannot claim to prefer Cheddar cheese to Monterey Jack. It was a sad, pathetic attempt to one-up me in wine knowledge, something about which I never even claimed to be an expert - all I said was I prefer Merlot to Bordeaux. And it backfired on him rather hilariously. As pointless snobbery often does.

In face of the evidence of this stupidity, this pompous self-assured ignorance, you Peanut Gallery residents can only come up with your normal, pathetic insults and cackles of bitter desperation: the adult equivalents of "I'm rubber, and you're glue".

You're a sad woman, Jo Ann. Consumed by your bitterness and shivering in a corner of the Internet decrying the very teat at which you so happily suckle. What's the word I'm thinking of? Hippo ... something.

"Another great line from Average_Joe is 'So how many of you have a single American flag?' Oh my, what a dumb-ass question."

It's interesting that you feel that way - obviously that means the answer is 'no' for you, and you are scared of what that would force you to admit: that your lunatic rantings about criticizing your country because you 'love it' are just a form of self-aggrandizing delusion to conceal from yourself the childish, immature nature of your posturing. You need to believe there's solid reason behind your oppositional defiance, just like Susan Smith desperately needed to believe she loved her kids.

Americans like you are shameful, a world-stage version of the bratty teenager. I'm a rebel! Look at me! I'm insulting my own country and aren't I just so precious and intelligent? Well, you've been exposed. So quit lying about loving your country. You're a disgrace to your country.

And I suspect that makes you oh-so-proud. You rebel. How's that France moving fund coming along?

Average_Joe, I'll spell it out for you. Bordeaux and Merlot are not "two different types of wine". Bordeaux is a wine-producing region in which are grown different grape varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle.

Get it now?

I should clarify, or else poor old Joe still won't get it. If you say that you don't like Bordeaux wines, that would mean that you don't like the Merlot produced in Bordeaux.

gold jacket, green jacket who gives a shit?

Average_Joe, kindly leave the name calling outside of this blog. Thank you.

Thanks Kes, but Average_Joe's his silly rant was rather amusing. No problem.

Hi Jo Ann, Average_Joe is not that bad, really.

At least, joe tries to stand for something, rather than being a hypocrite (btw not referring to anyone in this particular thread) who condones some people for the same things that he would condemn in others.

Kes, Average_Joe is not that bad? Well, he's not the brightest crayon in the box, to begin with. Note how he is hiding under his desk at this moment, being so embarrassed, by his bare ass exposed for all to see on his Bordeaux vs Merlot ridiculousness? He rants against rights for homosexuals, he rants about now the world is too feminine or some such bullshit, he refers to latté-drinking, fuel-efficient-car-driving, hippie etc etc liberals, and I guarantee you that he doesn't agree with your stance on Israel.

I think that at this point, you are so pissed off at Zak and Jonathan that even Average_Joe appeals to you.

On foreign blogs, i do my best to stick up for the U.S. But with so many chest-thumping FOX-watching, French-hating xenophobic homophobic Americans, it's not easy. And this bit about waving a flag makes it even more difficult for me to explain to foreigners that we're not all a bunch of fascist nationalists.

wow, this is GREAT! a subject i can be truly unbiased about, and all my friends are here! jo anne, are you french or something? thats so adorable! average joe, really representing for the "average joes" of america- all right! who's got the beer? i've got a case of kosher cabernet! norm, can we drink at your table? how about some lebanese hash? the money spent on it goes straight to hizzbullah, so everyone can be happy! i love you guys....

user-pic

oops, too late to the party, i guess. not the first time. ill leave the case of cabernet with you, norm. israeli wines have become truly world class in the last 15 years or so. (some of the best is from the golan heights...but the money spent on it goes straight to the idf :)

I'm trying to picture a party with an anti-Israeli liberal guy from China, two Zionists, an average American Joe, a liberal francophile female hated by average American Joes, and Norm, all high on hashish, kosher cabernet and beer. Weird. We might all end up in some debate about existence and all.

JEANIE (the woman in the video) has got it ALL RIGHT! The guy on the other hand was a blind idiot that was spawned out of a monkey's behind.

a) "omg why do they always pick on us FOX?" NO! STFU! The emmys did a WHOLE musical about how NBC sucks and is going down the drain. Jesus!

b) IT WAS A 'LOST' SPOOF! Nothing to do with the kentucky crash. Come on, stop being sOoOOoo sensitive just because it's got a plane scene in it.

c) It's just television and comedic jokes. GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR.

Idiots.

"Didn't they return French Fries to the capital canteen?"

Fries are not French, they're Belgian. I don't know who decided to call them French but he was an idiot.

user-pic

Wim: "I don't know who decided to call them French but he was an idiot."

Well, what do you think of those who named them after "freedom fries" ???? It is one of the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Did they change the "french kiss" into something else? And what about "french beans"? Spare me the "french way leave" (they use this expression in the UK, I don't know if you use it in the US)....

But if fries were Belgian, as they certainly are (see link below), then "Belgian fries" would have been called "freedom fries" in the capital canteen anyway because Belgium was in the "axis of weasels", I'm I wrong?

For those who are interested in the "frite française" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_fries

Vive la Belgique! Ik houd van jouw Belgie!

Lord, I detest Fox News and all the creeps on that war mongering channel.

Fox Nazi channel is more like it.

I weep for America. Since it has created this filthy unholy channel of Nazism in modern America. So sad.

Ooh. The bullies are feeling picked on. "Why always pick on us..". Boo hoo.
