What a piece of garbage. This is a wonderful way to spit on inspiring music by plastering Bush and every other evil person all over it.
he's never been this articulate
Very cool video. I loved the Sunday Bloody Sunday one.
Oh, but the link to thepartyparty.com is broken.
Kind of agree with Chris. While I am in awe of the technical aspects of these videos, I fail to see what their intended purpose is.
Seems they're mostly an expression of what you wish your leaders would/could/can be than the sorry state of what they are.
Imagine :)
Iggy
I see it as more poignant to have Bush speaking these words , quite frankly. The thought of how distanced Bush is from any sort of idea like this brings the point home even further. The same with Sunday Bloody Sunday.
What hits closer to home than a war-mongerer's words being turned into a message of peace? I certainly could be wrong, but I think that may have been the point.
The mix-up is ironic. It's forcing Bush to say how wonderful the world is without his favorite pastime: sending poeple out to die. It's an anti-war song. Having pro-war Bush sing it, it's like having a wonderful bizzare dream.
I agree with Marco: as the inserted song says, "take a walk on the wild side"--it's incredibly surreal to imagine this man advocating the destruction of possession itself, the end of war, when his entire being rests on preserving stolen wealth and the money his associates make from every bomb we drop on innocent people. This is a candy-colored nightmare reversal, which, however, is so unreal that it hurts.
It may be clever and ironic, but the video's real effect is to soften the image of Bush, if only on a subconscious level. It sends the message that there's an underlying humanity to Bush and that he has the capacity to embody the message of a song like "Imagine." I don't see this as a good thing. It contributes to an image that has been propagated by the mainstream media for years-- that we shouldn't trust our instinct when evaluating Bush, because nobody could be as bad as he seems to be. In my opinion, Bush should be portrayed as and seen for what he truly is-- a psychopathic mass-murdering thug with no redeeming qualities whatsoever --at least until he is no longer an acting agent of death and destruction in the world.
Wow. That's fantastic! That should be on the radio.
This is great. There were some unrendered bits still...
I love how it actually sounds like he's singing the mashed up "take a walk on the wild side" part.
The juxtaposition of bush and these lyrics is fantastic.
I want this as an .mp3

It really would take a walk on the wild side for Bush to imagine peace. The irony is rich, and an effective tool for making the point.
Good video - would be even better if they had gotten that last render done.
The coganative dissonance may be fun for the ultra-creative side of the mind, but the insertion of the sexula freedom bit especially killed it for me. This reflects poorly on the artist as someone without the capacity to consider the weight of state leadership, only lost in a personal whirlpool. (I have an arts background, btw)
Very clever. I'll dissent on Imagine, which is an obnoxious bit of kitsch unworthy of Lennon. Perfect accompaniment for mister pie-in-the-sky freedom and democracy, though.
Great video. You know, listening to the "John Kerry" acceptance speech song makes me so sad. Everything he said was and is sooooo relevant now more than ever. Bush and the GOP are such fear mongering failures and America is just too damn slow to catch on.

Wonderful alternate universe video.
For those who feel angry about it b/c bush is such a horrible man and this portrays him "speaking peace" - I say: people have one of two reactions-- they see the irony, or they get angry. Both of which further the theme of Bush-is-a-murdering-ass.
i totally agree w/simon. loved the video.go, cognitive dissonance!
politics is so surreal
Watching this video again, I'm reminded of an old viral video with Le Bush and SeƱor Blair at the gay bar. It's an oldie but a goodie.
I doubt Bush singing Lennon makes us subconciously alter our feelings for the man. This two induviduals couldn't be more different. As Bill Maher often quotes Bush whom said he liked the Beatles up until their psychedelic phase. The guy is square and conservative to the core--there's no way he's anti-war.
