The Keith Olberman link leads to an excellent interview with John Dean discussing the authoritarian nature of conservatives.

Adam Corrola is a great man. Always trying to get all those girls with abusive boyfriends to go for the nice guy, yelling at them for getting pregnant and to use a damn condom, at others for useing drugs and spending 10 years in community college.
Anyways, what he says after the video stops ...
"CAROLLA: I’m tight on time, too, and I don’t have time for *'s, so let’s move on.
[inaudible] Tight on time… Go f- yourself, you’re tight on time.
Female co-host (Teresa Strasser or Sarah Silverman?): I say this to Ann Coulter. Why the long face? (Laughter)
CAROLLA: Listen, you *, don’t call in an hour and a half late and tell me you’re “tight on time.” Of course you’re tight on time, you’re an hour and a half God-damn late calling into a radio show. Just take your stupid book and go pitch it to your stupid cable outlets."

A lot of people in the media who are liberal apparently like Ann Coulter. But then again maybe they're just doing what their producers tell them they have to go to get ratings. I can't imagine that Matt Lauer really likes to go one on one with her.

Adam Corolla became my favorite person of the week thanks to that. Kudos, Adam.

I think those liberals who like Ann Coulter do so because she's an easy target to mock. Everyone likes shooting fish in a barrel.
BTW, why is Sarah Silverman still able to get work? She is without a doubt the least talented female comedian I've ever had the misfortune to see or hear.

Oh, Joe.
You can criticize a comedian - to each his own, after all - but what does "female" have to do with it?
Quit being a putz. You don't want to sound like Coulter.

I am pleased to see that Adam had the moxie to hang up on the self-important Coulter. As satisfying as that is, I don't understand why he booked her in the first place. Why is this woman getting any television forum to recite her silly frass? If impetuous outrage is all that takes, I could find many more colorful characters down the street at the construction project.

Loveline listeners should be well aware that both Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky are Bush supporters who routinely ridiculed peace demonstators and critics of the Iraq "war" up to and during the invasion. It always struck me as remarkable that Drew "Addiction Medicine Specialist" Pinsky-- a guy who can instantly diagnose addictive behavior thirty seconds into a phone call with a total stranger --is incapable of recognizing that his president is a menatally deranged drunkard. But then, I suppose whatever perceived tax cut these two assholes expect to get from the Nazi right trumps their so-called commitment to women's reproductive freedom and any other health care issues to which they have in the past paid meaningless lip service.

"You can criticize a comedian - to each his own, after all - but what does 'female' have to do with it?"
I really don't want to get into the detailed specifics of gender typing - I would expect that your parents would have covered that whole birds and bees thing - but you do realize she is a woman, right?
I have to agree with Jerry Seinfeld. When did we get so damn sensitive? You can't even say 'female' without some neo-feminist barking at you?
It amazes me that people who constantly profess to be for freedoms and rights want to police everybody else's language. Your problem (besides your obvious outdated belief that women need your protection) is that you assume if someone mentions a gender or race characteristic they must mean it in a pejorative sense. But perhaps I just think she's the worst female comedian (okay, except Margaret Cho), because I can think of male comedians who suck in their own right (Gallagher, that guy from Home Improvement, etc). Calm down.
If you're so sensitive to the issue of the gender of an entertainer, perhaps you are the problem.

I think Mr. Carolla's, whose comedy is much like a Corolla, cheap, plastic, and needs a check-up every ten thousand miles, rage was justified. It was obvious she had sabatoged an interesting if difficult radio encounter; probably she didn't feel hse had the energy to try to appeal to an generally less-than-conservative audience than to which she's used.
Too bad, though, would have been, as Mr. Carolla puts it, good radio.

So, Joe. From your comment I'm to understand that you might say, "she's the best black doctor I ever met" and not realize how far down your throat you've shoved your own foot?
The whole point is to make your subjective judgements on ability color and gender blind.
You can say Sarah is a crap comedian - the fact that she's female is totally irrelevant to whether or not you find her funny.
Plus, calling her a "female comedian" was redundant. Her name is not ambiguous - YOU chose to make the emphasis.

I think that it is totally off-topic and ridiculous to start calling Average_Joe anti-feminist because he said that Sarah Silverman was "the least talented female comedian I've ever had the misfortune to see or hear." While I don't agree with what he said, I don't really see how it was bad to say "female comedian", because maybe there is a worse male comedian (such as Carlos Mencia, I hate that racist prick). All he did was make a slightly more specific criticism. It is incredible to me how sensitive everyone is about their gender.
Also Ann Coulter is a lying insensitive bitch, who deserves more than anyone, to have been in the twin towers on 9/11. I hope she chokes on her own venom.

Agreed... all the guy is doing is making a little bit more of a distinction. Insinuating that he's anti-feminist for doing so is totally absurd.
Unfortunetly, the nature of the internet makes it impossible for anyone to realise when they're wrong and just apologise.

In Sam's defense, I think that he/she was just responding to the person AverageJoe, who often makes inflammatory comments and has a certain reputation on this blog. I don't blame Sam for not apologizing to AverageJoe. Beurk! Had anyone else made that comment, Sam would probably not have reacted the same way.

Actually, I try to respond to the ideas, not the source.
I apologize for getting off topic, but I won't aplogize to Joe as I said nothing offensive.
I was pointing out a bias in his comments. It's a common bias. There is still flak against women in comedy when they should be judged purely on ability.
And if you think that's too PC - well, then we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Does anyone else wonder how this creature has become political news? I mean, perhaps she should be the center of attention somewhere, but I think she is technically even below the term "Pundit" as far as her ability to make political commentary. All these "news" programs have really sunk to a new low by promoting her to such an extent.
Anyhow, here is a picture of her look alike "Iggy Pop" on Hardball ;)

D C, did it ever occur to you, maybe Pinsky has made the correct diagnosis, and you, not so much?
