This just sucks. There's such thing as enough of a bad thing
I’m reminded of that clip when Bush had Porter Goss by his side and Bush was saying; “everyday we are doing all we can to find Osama Bin Laden” and Goss essentially spit his water out and grinned as if to say “ what a crock of shit! We are NOT! I better learn how to bullshit the press the way the President does!”

No comment for the moment. Would like a TypeKey identity; so I'm signing up.
I know we all love to watch this idiocy, but what exactly does it say about us? When germany was defeated at the end of the secod world war, american troops marched the citizens of nearby towns into the concentration camps to show the citizens what their government had done. the implication of course being that the thing done by the state was done in the names of these citizens, with their silence as tacit agreement that the deed be done. I shudder to think that we as americans are allowing the same thing to happen. i don't mean to compare us to NAZI germany, and i don't think things are nearly that bad (historically speaking), but aren't we doing the exact same thing as those germans living in those nearby towns? We know what is happening, we ridicule it and we call the president names, yet no action is actually taken. We are so consumed by our own helplessness that nothing is done. Bush can sit and listen to Colber list his crimes on TV while he smiles because he knows that half the nation doesent care, and the other half is either too ignorant to understand or so consumed with self pitty that the best defense the noble opposition can summon is a comedian. i feel very much the same way. I'm very concerned about what is happening, but the question always comes, what can i as a lone individual actually do about any of this? some say vote, well, most educated people tried that in 2004, and much good it did us. (and before that going al the way back to Regan). some say, educate the public, if people knew, they would force politicians to change. But how can anyone educate/inform the "public" that wouldd prefer to watch American Idol and considers Fox/CNN/MSNBCto be "news" channels? I'm not sure that anything short of a complete economic collapse that deprives the middle class of the little comfort they have under current conditions will change anything. maybe I'm being too futalistic, and I blame myself (and the rest of you for this), but i think that nothing short of an economic collapse followed by some sort of revolution will change a thing. off course revolutions don't change things for the better, they simply transfer power from one group of powerful men to another until the cycle repeats itelf...so there you go, futalism. No wonder half of the progressive movement is out hugging trees...they gave up.
Very nice indeed.
The animation left a little something to be desired, but on the whole I can appreciate the point made: Worst. President. Ever.
"i don't mean to compare us to NAZI germany, and i don't think things are nearly that bad (historically speaking), but aren't we doing the exact same thing as those germans living in those nearby towns?"
No.
And for the love of god, can we learn some new scary analogies? Dragging out Hitler/the Nazis every time you want to say someone thinks differently than you ... it's really tiresome.
Anton, here is an article that you might find pertinent. http://www.rationalrevolution.net/articles/riseofamerican_fascism.htm
I'm sure oh-so-average Joe will enjoy it a lot. :-D
i think my analogy is very pertenent because the people of germany gave Hitler the power to do what he did. I only use germany as my example because it is the most memorable, and one used most often, but there are nother examples. One if the roman republic being overturned into empire, another is Napoleon gaining power after a bloody revolution.
