BBCounterfeit
Following a court case involving Apple Computer and The Beatles' record label, a floor manager had run to reception and grabbed the man, thinking he was , editor of Newswireless.net, a specialist internet publication.
Actually, he was a minicab driver who had been waiting to drive Mr Kewney home once the interview was completed.
The unknown cabbie he was applying for a job and was there for an interview, his first name Guy, the same as Mr. Kewney led to the confusion. The wrong guy attempted to bluff his way through and, speaking in a strong French accent, sustained a (somewhat illogical) form of conversation. Meanwhile, the real Mr Kewney watched indignantly on a monitor in reception

Actually.. according to bbc.co.uk the guy was actually waiting for a job interview! (what this says about 'the press' automatically assuming a black guy to be a cabbie and not there for another purpose I'll let someone else discuss).

So all the while he was being led to the studio he was thinking he was about to go job interview.. you can see his face as he's introduced as someone else!
Either way, very funny.
Actually, BoingBoing has the real goods - he was not a cabbie but a job applicant waiting for his interview with IT.
interesting that a black guy with a french accent must be a cabbie....
Just FYI, the imposter wasn't actually a cabbie, but a business studies grad from the Congo who was at the BBC applying for an IT job. If you go to the newswireless.net site, the REAL Guy Kewney has more info on it. Apparently the other Guy thought it was some sort of 'initiation prank.'
The shocked look on that cab driver's face is hilarious! Even funnier is how he just plays along. I wish I could have seen the look on Kewney's face.
He's not bluffing! He actually says in the piece he's surprised, and that he wasn't expecting to be interviewed!
Imagine his side of things; being called there to pick up a client, being dragged into the studio, and suddenly being asked all kinds of questions.
He must have thought it was some kind of weird new reality show, and with today's programming, who can blame him?
He's not actually a cabbie.

Apparently he wasn't a taxi driver at all - the confusion arose because he shared Mr Kewney's first name. More amusingly, he was actually at the BBC for an IT job interview, and initially assumed that he was being asked questions to establish his suitability for the post!
Boing Boing has updated this story. Seems he wasn't a cabbie...

He didn't take it in good humour when it happened. He was borderline offensive.

Well, if he made one point clear, it's that the poor guy interviewed was really in fact, black, and he is not. Good thing he cleared that out...
What a pathetic display of public whining by the real Guy Kewney. He sounds like an ass.
Funny how we're so accustomed to hearing news anchors lead their guest, after they've asked the question, one doesn't really need to pay attention to the answer.
Oh my. I had already seen this when Norm had it posted under U-Tube. But this update, and the added update of this incident throught the eyes and mind of Keith Olberman. Priceless. Thanks Norm!
