Neil Young / Impeach The President
Neil Young talking about his new album and the controversial track "Impeach The President" read more here in Neil Young Lets Loose a War Cry
"Let's impeach the president for lying / and leading our country into war," Young hollers, "abusing all the power that we gave him / and shipping all our money out the door . . . Let's impeach the president for spying / on citizens inside their own homes / breaking every law in the country / tapping our computers and telephones."

is it me or does neil sort of have the same mannerisms (hand waviness/smirks) as dubya?
If Bush were impeached... wouldn't that make Cheney Pres? :P
Neil Young Interview
Why, somebody tell my Why, in your country, you have to constantly take a stand, calling yourself a patriot as you speak your mind?
The ones calling themselves patriots over here are "national democrats" aka neo-nazis.
I think that is possibly the dumbest reporter I have ever seen. What a dumbass set of questions to ask! The guy wasn't too impressive either.
ps- does anyone know if she is related to Elizabeth Vargas, the hack over at ABC?
I don't take people who are that well groomed seriously.
That tight smile the interviewer gave at the end was hilarious.
Why do all the Canadian artists sing about American politics? Where's the songs on Stephen Harper? I would so listen to those.
Emma I would say it's because their president isn't a complete idiot and warmonger. I'm sure though if you would dig through the underground of obscure bands there ought to be at least some critizising its goverment. It takes a moron to bring out into the public mainstream.

As a musician who loves improvising and hearing stuff that is off the cuff and not super overproduced I am very interested to hear this album. And I respect the guy for saying his mind, and the fact he is able to change his mind with new information. So he supported Bush at one point. Now with more information he changes his mind. That is better than "sticking to your guns" if you find out you were wrong about something.
what a cunt
I love how the in-studio reporter schools her at the end: "Anybody who feels that the themes of this album are motivated by the need for publicity... I think that's ridiculous." Oh, snap!!!
Oh man, couldn't they get someone to interview Neil who knew anything about him? He does what he wants to do, when he wants to do it. Anyone remeber him in the 80's for example? :p
Canadians have a myopic obsession with the US. We're pretty much all they talk about. It's flattering, in a way, that they find us so interesting. But the anger itself is just a form of insecurity. Just take it in stride - it's harmless.
BTW, how do you 'nucks like that softwood lumber settlement? Seems like we got the better end of that deal, and you have nobody to blame except your elected representatives.
Problems with the Canadian political system? Unheard of! :-P
yeah, that smile was funny, the make anchor basically told her she was full of sh*t, and she had to smile thru it.
regarding the lumber settlement: you must be proud of your government for taking what it wants, when it wants, in blatant disregard for the rules. if this government were in power for long, the entire incentive structure of the current world economic order would break down; why should Canada or anyone else enter into trade agreements with the US if the US is going to disregard the rules when they're inconvenient?
To call this (or any of Canadians' other gripes) insecurity is just false. Canadians feel a definite (and justified) sense of superiority towards their less educated, shorter lived, less free, and less attractive neighbors to the south.
actually....as a Canadian....it kind of pisses me off when we talk about the US...but Neil Young is no longer Canadian....he's "from Canada"...so whatever...I understand what the Republicans are doing...but it's about time someone said "you fucked up, its over!"
Perhaps one reason Canadians talk about the U.S. with such regularity is because they are forced to deal with the consequences of the American governements decisions. And the U.S. government has sure made a lot of bad ones lately :)
Forgive the punctuation errors...Italian keyboard
because when neo-con america farts it stinks all around the world. .
One protest song does not impeach a President.
A Rolling Stone magazine article about the President being the worst ever does not impeach the President.
Lying about and covering up the lies with dirty politics (Valerie Plame) does not impeach the President.
Having close advisors indicted for felonies does not impeach the President.
About the only way to get Congress to even think about impeachment is to find the President giving/getting a blowjob.
"Canadians feel a definite (and justified) sense of superiority towards their less educated, shorter lived, less free, and less attractive neighbors to the south."
See, this is precisely the type of rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth nonsense I'm talking about. The funny thing is, nobody here has a problem with a Canadian asserting they are better/smarter ... it feeds into their own little loop of smug superiority (because of course you're talking about those OTHER Americans).
All I can say is every single one of your pejorative comments is an outright lie. You are not significantly longer-lived, certainly not more highly-educated, you only have the freedoms we grant you, and everybody knows Canadians are fugly. But it's okay. I know it's just the insecurity talking. Hush child.
"why should Canada or anyone else enter into trade agreements with the US if the US is going to disregard the rules when they're inconvenient?"
Because you need us more than we need you. This is probably the basis of your national self-esteem problem.
The problem isn't us - it's your ankle-grabbing government. But you're too busy convincing yourself that you're better than us to clean up your own backyard. Which is why we're buying up your major corporations, sinking your dollar, and otherwise keeping you on a short economic tether.
Don't blame us for your failings.
Those unfortunate Canadians lack the corporatocracy that really controls the government...and sends the sons and daughters off to die for them. Those poor Canadians are only represented by the citizens and thier views!
SHE SUCKS!!! Couldn't they at least find someone who was impartial on the matter?? I hate the press
President's and blow-jobs. I think anyone with the courage to think - Neil Young perhaps is one of these crusaders of thought, but any others - us, me, you? Couldn't we safely say that our current President blew his job?
As far as a job well done though, we have to give him credit for accomplishing something which actually contradicted contemporary history, so was not an easy or affordable feat; Bush made it possible for terrorists to flourish in Iraq, a desert Kingdom which had not allowed terrorism to be enjoyed as a past-time.
As far as blow jobs are concerned, I would not trust him to suck my dick as his thin lifeless lips just seem better suited for helping him tell lies. As far as great President’s go, Georgie could have been famous for doing something good for his and our country. Opening Iraq’s border’s to terrorists, and through an illegal military action, encouraging the rise of terrorism in that country are simply not things history will view very kindly, but like it or not, George Jr. will be remembered for the senseless slaughter of young American men and woman who served this great and fearless leader, and for saddling America with a debt service which may cripple our future economies. All the money that he had printed to finance the “Invention of terrorism Bash” in Iraq, could have been spent here in America solving social issues, and would have left George Bush Jr. a place amongst the greatest of American President’s. If the President’s job is to ruin a country, then he is without peer, and a great success. But if the job of President here in America requires a commitment to the American people and to further and better our quality of life, then he has blown his job. Blow job George.
Like Neil, I have also written a song.
He kisses his wife, and he looks in the mirror. She smiles and she tells him, that he’s a fantastic world leader.
That’s the same thing, His father told him yesterday. That’s the same thing.
He just read the Bible, well maybe a page. He chose the part about an eye for an eye – an no escaping God’s rage.
That’s the same thing, That his Preacher told him yesterday. It’s the same thing.
The Preacher said, “Now son we got millions of Christians that voted for you. If you can call this a Holy War, they all will surely approve. This couldn’t be better – who would have thunk? Now we can take out Iran – our troops are already there for the slam-dunk.
You got what you wanted – Chaney and the guys over there in that pew. And all those dead soldiers – they’re in heaven, praying for you. When you became the new Sheriff, the new one in town. You told all your friends, I can do what I want now.
That’s the same thin Your father told you yesterday. It’s the same thing.
He said, “Son don’t you worry. Them dead kids’ll pray for your soul. And God is on your side. I’m sure he’d like you to know.”
“Ya see, son, God is an American – an he’s counting on you. So if you can make this a Holy War, he’ll more than approve.
But this young girl, Asked the same thing yesterday. Asked the same thing yesterday – the same thing.
She asked why her father, he went out to Iraq. She wanted to know, why he couldn’t come back. Her mother, through tears, and a coughing attack. Said, “If I could just see the President, that’s what I would ask.
That’s the same thing, I asked yesterday It’s the same thing. It’s the same thing.
Thanks everyone. Thanks Neil. Goodnight Mr. President.
