On McPassion: Not long ago I was driving through the Texas panhandle somewhere outside Amarillo. Along the freeway were these billboards touting the "Largest Crucifix in the Western Hemisphere," "Largest Freestanding Cross in America," and "A Spiritual Experience You'll Never Forget." When we finally drove past the mega-church thing, it indeed did have a big shiny giant cross. What really struck me, though was the big banner hanging at the church that read "Gift Shop Now Open!"

Thanks for posting the Douglas Adams interview I have not seen that particular interview before. It always makes me feel good when I read something that expresses thoughts that I have had many times. His thought pattern for why he atheist is almost identical to my own thought process when I thought about what religion is for the first time.
I can’t tell you how many times I have argued with people that some beliefs are better then others. It amazes me that you can’t get certain people to concede that point.
While seeing people expressing what I always thought gives me great hope there was things in the article that sadden me a bit. Mainly it made me relize just how much religion influence our country compare to other western nation. Douglas Adam said he have never had a problem because he atheist. I doubt many American atheists can say they never heard crap from other people because they were openly atheist. Just look at the article that was posted here a few days back that mention a study done by university Minnesota about Torrance of atheist in America.

Damn it! How come I can't get a McPassion in Wisconsin?! Bloody hotbed of atheism and agnoisticism.

Yeah, hip hip horrah for the Douglas Adams interview.
I used to say that I was 25% atheist and 75% agnostic... I think I should change it to 90% atheist and 10% agnostic.
I like his explanation of why he is a "radical atheist," just so he can get away from all the variations of atheism.
"Yes. I think I use the term radical rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “Atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘Agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean Atheist."
