One of the most brilliant things I have seen come out of Bill's show. Of course the list of brilliant things is a long one... but, oh well.
could someone using explorer tell me if they are still having active x prompts on the main page not individual entries.
Norm. I'm using IE6 on XP+SP2 with the Bill Gates popup killer turned off (hence Active X limited) and I get 8 prompts on the main page and then can't see any of the QT movies. I came in here as a strategy to see if I could watch Bill Maher. I got one prompt and could watch the movie :)
I've only just started using my current set up so I don't know how it might have been otherwise recently. Sorry to be so geek but you did ask.
I use IE and I still get tons of Active X prompts on the main page.
It was a great day in New York today. In case your local MSM outlet is ignoring the fact that a hundred thousand or more of us collected here today, I have this to offer, and I'll be posting videos and stills of the event during the week.
Hi Norm. I just caught the end of the White House correspondents’ dinner on C-Span. Steven Colbert was brilliant. He ended with a brilliant skit where he was the press secretary. I hope you can post it. It was hilarious!
use firefox
I use Explorer and I had to click the Active X box 9 times. However, if I use Firefox, the problem is resolved.
I haven't tried Firefox, but I have a cure for the annoying activex prompts in IE.
The problem has to do with a patent case (Eolas v. Microsoft)
Click this for patch KB917425:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B7D9801B-4FB5-492E-903E-3400ABF1D731&displaylang=en
Today I have something new going on on Norms main page though; all Quicktime links are brown & won't download, (but Flash videos still work, I hate .flv). Single QT links on comment pages still work.
I'm downloading Firefox now.
Thanks for the patch beowulfkg. I no longer get the ActiveX prompts but on the main page the QT movie screens are still greyed out and don't open. So no improvement there.
To people who are saying "use firefox"...you want to design your webpages for as much cross browser compatability as possible so's you maximise your availability to visitors. I anticipate Norm wants to increase his readership not reduce it.
Did he get the job? That sounded right....oh yeah.......the need chronic liar part was an unlisted requirement....
