A little melodramatic perhaps, but well said. Taken from last nights Boston Legal (tip to Dan)

Spader was well-cast for that role. I wish Melissa Hughes looked a little less like a 29-year-old that Spader might be trying to bed. But as to the text and delivery, Brav-o!

So this is where folks who don't watch the Daily Show are getting their news and commentary.

Look for the GOP cabal to haul the writers of this show and this particular actor in for a congressional inquirey into their treason as terrorist sympathizers. Followed by George Cloony, the Dixie Chicks, et al. They will be black balled in hollywood and thrown into guantanimo for High crimes and treason against the united states government.

Freedom of speech is not, in fact free. It is controlled. Look at what they did to Sheehan. I especially like the law that Texas passed to make it illegal to camp on a roadside so that they couldn't have a peaceful sit in near the texas kings ranch. "Free speech zones" indeed. open discourse, right to provide redress to your government, its all slipping away. welcome to our brave new world. Heroes, and those with courage need not apply.

You know what, I really don't know how truthful this all is, but it sure is great to live in a "free" country. Oh Canada!!

I feel so sorry for my American friends in this line of tyranny. Stand up please my friends, the world needs to hear your woes.

so, uhh... what happened in the show?!

I like his first few points. It really is remarkable how little the American public seems to care.

I have a comment. It's not pertaining to this clip as I can't view it.

My Comment is that it is my belief that we as voters have power over this country only through the people we elect. Therefore. I wonder if there is a resource anywhere that will tell me who the candidates are in my area that are running in the "Impeach Bush" party. Or the "Congress do your job party". I don't even know what the party is called so I don't really know where to start. =/

That's the bright side of GOP-totalitarianism: TV shows and Hollywood are getting better. They had been dumb, reactionary and apolitical during the eighties - and look what happened ten years after. Maybe now they're paving the way for something better..?

Okay, I know, daydreaming...

"A little melodramatic perhaps"..? Well, it's melodrama. They're entitled. No one has ever confused David E. Kelley's shows ("Ally McBeal", "Boston Public") with documentaries. Needs to be said, and needs to be said believably and passionately by someone great like Spader.

For those at work that can't view this (Most cannot install Quicktime 7 at work).. this is also viewable in wmv at

Good post.

YouTube's got it, too - just click my name below for the link.

Outstanding speech. Unfortunately, pretty words and cogent arguments count for hardly anything anymore. If I were so inclined I could defuse 5+ minutes of rhetoric in just two words: "Hollywood liberal."

The American left is totally screwed until they figure out how they let that happen and stop setting themselves up for it.

"Okay, I know, daydreaming..."

I am daydreaming with you... sigh

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you Sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you But in your dreams whatever they be Dream a little dream of me

Go Liberals :)

"I feel so sorry for my American friends in this line of tyranny. Stand up please my friends, the world needs to hear your woes"

We need to hear more of our woes too. I fear that we are approaching the point where we will be living in a Republican police state.

Not too melodramatic for me...If the Dems won't combat the problems mentioned in the closing argument, then it's time for a new party. I'm damn close to changing my registration back to Independent.

Applause! Very very nice.

It's sad though how everything must be a Show. Whenever someone says something worth listening to, it's scripted exact lines from a host or a fictional character. I've never once seen a Programme on American television. Everything is a Show.

Do correct me if I'm wrong.

Pix, don't you ever watch C-Span?

I only wish if everyone is got that type of open-minded thinkink (including and especially myself)

Jo ann,

I'm just speaking out of my own experience. I don't live in USA so therefor I wouldn't know for sure. Just a general opinion you get from things you see and hear. I mean, even someone as brilliant as Moore works in the entertainment business. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but when there's nothing but entertainment?

C-Span, is that where the last election debate was aired? I hear the people asking questions were to write them down in advance and sort of get them approved. Sounds like lines to me.

C-Span aired the election debates, but they did not sponsor them. Many other stations also aired the debates. C-Span has no advertisements at all.

Description of C-Span from here: "C-SPAN C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service. The C-SPAN mission is to provide public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming. C-SPAN provides audience access to the live gavel-to-gavel proceedings of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and to other forums where public policy is discussed, debated and decided--all without editing, commentary or analysis and with a balanced presentation of points of view. C-SPAN provides elected and appointed officials and others who would influence public policy a direct conduit to the audience without filtering or otherwise distorting their points of view."

C-Span's website:

Thanks for the link. I'm gonna go through some of these clips. Interesting!

Look for 'George Farah, Exec. Dir., Open Debates'

Glad you like the C-Span link Pix. George Farah on Open Debates.. yes, that is an important issue.

Just reading these comments on the little blond ditz who refuses to pay taxes and Jame's speech insults me, my country, and the president. Am I the only conservative person who was watching this show? Is there a character on the show who is not liberal that is presented as anything but a buffoon? If I wanted to be submitted to this type of tv, I could watch cable news. Is al-qaeda one of the sponsors? I checked but saw no mention of them!
