Justice Ginsburg Reveals Details of Threat
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she and former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor have been the targets of death threats from the "irrational fringe" of society, people apparently spurred by Republican criticism of the high court.
Ginsburg revealed in a speech in South Africa last month that she and O'Connor were threatened a year ago by someone who called on the Internet for the immediate "patriotic" killing of the justices.

Poverty-Stricken Africans Receive Desperately Needed Bibles
MARADI, NIGER—More than 60,000 urgently needed Bibles arrived to allay suffering throughout the famine-stricken nation of Niger Friday, in one of the largest humanitarian-relief operations ever attempted by a Christian ministry.
Pharyngula: No respect for Christianity…so stop demanding it
So, no, the final word is that I will never give his religion a bit of respect. I will tolerate it. I will respect his right to practice his religion. But I will not hesitate to express my scorn every time one of my "allies" in this "coalition" thinks the way to better the country is to promote more belief in false fantasies. Ophelia links to an excellent summary of the materialist/naturalist/scientist position. That's where I stand, and that is my objective—respect that, Christians.

The best thing O'Connor could have done to get at these people would have been to stay in office for three more years. But as her husband once confirmed she was actually reluctant to retire during a D e m o c r a t i c administration. Talking about knowing your friends - Well, the Repugs surely showed gratitude towards her..
I can't believe that these Christian groups could be so, no other word for it, stupid. These people are starving, they don't need "spiritual nourishment" they need food. I almost lost it when I read that part about how hard it is for these people to go to these poverty stricken countries. How selfish do you have to be to think of yourself at a time like that? As for that comment about parents weeping upon seeing the bibles, that is not because they are happy. It's because they were hoping for food and now they and their children are going to starve but don't worry, they'll have a book that they likely can't even read to keep them "spiritually nourished." These people make me sick.
Adam, man, it's a joke. It's "The Onion News" and it was hilarious. They raised their money through "bake-offs, bargbecues, and pie-eating contests" and purchased a "used break truck." It was brilliant satire. One of their other headlines is "Kent State Basketball Team Massacred by Ohio National Guard in Repeat of Classic 1970 Matchup."
As with many of The Onion's pieces, this one is rather darkly funny because, of course, people do indeed send Bibles to starving Africans.
Ahh, well then, it appears that I am not as observant as I would like to think, lol. But the thing is, it is, a you say, something that does happen and every time I see these religious groups do it, I get extremely frustrated. Lol. I feel somewhat stupid now after reading it again for thinking it was a serious article and I totally ignored the fact that it was "the onion news." It actually would be quite funny if it wasn't so close to reality.
Mmm, nothing's better than Bible soup.
