I love your web site. It's the only way I can get my Daily Show fix since I don't have cable. Thanks.
So let me see if I get Santorum's argument:
1) those who oppose the war are clearly selfish 2) showing blind pride in something is just as good as actually fighting for it 3) we all need to stop hating America
You would think even the Republicans would figure that these f**ing red herring arguments are getting old, but they keep on pushing, and add more logical fallacies to boost.
Our greatness is from divine providence, not any wrong doings. Does that mean slavery, free labor, played no part in our economic might? Well, you learn something new every day..
it's hard to believe he takes himself seriously.
Sanitorium's idea is right in line with the neo con understanding of how this war would be supported. From the early days, it was understood that the majority of American people couldn't be directly aware of the cost of the war, especially to themselves.
So, no tax hikes, no reinstitution of the draft. You aren't allowed to see the coffins returning or see the loads of wounded men and women being hustled into the hospital, always under the cover of darkness.
Pushing this ignoble idea, that merely displaying a pro-war bumber sticker, tells the world that you are an American hero, is a plea for support from the moral lowest common denominator.
The under message being to stay the courageous patriotic course, fear not, it's only a posture. Make the war look more popular and by the way, that bumper sticker and patriotic pose, means you should vote Republican, the Patriotic Party.
Rallying political support, for the war and for the party, from those who believe they have nothing to lose.
Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
Insantorum is as cynical a phoney as they come. His dogged advocacy of the neoconservative Weltanschauung is an inspiration to fascists everywhere.
Thanks so much, Norm, for linking to my Alito filibuster poems!
Santorum wasn't even at any time a member of the Armed Forces, that opportunistic schmuck.

"Devine providence"? Chickenhawk freak.
HAH!!! What an enormous joke of a human being Santorum is.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Shit, i don't put any stickers on my cars, i must be a selfish, freedom-hating, anti-American.
Hell, just call me the antichrist. I welcome your misery and stupidity.
I think the the british show Yes, Prime Minister kind of summed up this type of politician when they said all politicians are on a "subsidized ego trip". What a senseless waste of human life. :) DW
"Santorum compares putting bumper stickers on your car with serving in Iraq or Afghanistan" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In that case, if I put a magnetic yellow ribbon on my car, then i want combat pay, too. And the G.I. Bill. And preferential consideration for government jobs.

Rick's not only a phony, he's also either a liar or incredibly stupid, one of the two, the jury's still out. On Friday the Pittsburg Post-Gazette quoted Rickyas saying that he never, never, never, never meet Grover Norquist (K Street Project person). Yet there is a video of Grover introducing him at a press conference that took place on 6.28.05. I'm sure Rick's people will try and spin it so that it looks like the press conference just happened to slip the Sentator's mind. But if you ask me if you publicly say that you can't remember events that happened to you in the last 6 months then I think that means you lack the mental capable of being a United States Sentator.

The rhetoric about selflessness and all that sense of purpose talk, concerning US citizens stepping up to serve in the military...it might be true for a percentage. I am willing to wager that a far larger percentage of our volunteer military did not enlist because of their overwhelming desire to serve their country, but because there were few appealing alternatives and it was peace time. Not hating the troops, just pointing out Santorum's mouth full of shit.
It's guys like this should be tossed into Iraq alone, just him and his bumper stickers.
Being from The Netherlands it wasn't clear to me whether Santorum iss for real or a new John Stewart sidekick. Only a quick Google search led me to believe he is for real. But please, tell me I'm wrong!
You're not wrong. Americans live in some sort of strange alternate reality that seem to have most things twisted upside down. They believe, sometimes rightly, that rules of reality don't apply to them.
Wow. I want to get some bumper stickers now. Haaa. That guy is a joke. He should have cried though, add more emotion.
