It's not working

Works for me. If you're going to leave a message saying a video isn't working at least leave enough information to trouble shoot the problem. Operating system, browser, Quicktime Version. Have you tried reloading the page. A shift reload is always a good idea if it doesn't first load.

Norm, it doesn't work for me either. I have the latest QT version 7. I am able to watch the video below. What I get is a QT simble with a question mark in it. Best regards.

This video doesn't require Quicktime 7. Okay I've checked it both on a Mac with Safari and and Firefox on a Windows running XP works on both.

Is Feiler for real??!! WTF??!!

I used to be surprised by folk like him, now I'm just amused.

It may be true that most wars were fought for religious reasons, but I'm more inclined to think that Bush is more interested in the money the Carlyle group makes off the war than he is in holy groud. But hey, if not, somehow it wouldn's surprise me.

Why would Feller appear on this show? What does he have to gain? He did seem intelligent and engaged and fully aware of Stephen's intent. He didn't get angry. He answered the questions. I'm sure he thrives on walking the dogma. I'm glad he expressed the extreme 'inerrant' nature of the war. This guy represents a big part of Bush's core constituency. The Neo Nazi party is never heard from now that they found a voice in the Bush Klan--neocons, neoSurvivalists, neoSpites.... With friends like these, who needs enemies. And Bush went down to Argentina to improve image...isn't it here he needs to work on image?

Norm, great post. I doubt that Colbert has a long future doing this, but I like it. Walking the Bible ought to be a book about walking old testament and new among the heathen right. To literally walk the Bible's locales is just dumb as an exercise in anything christian.

P.S.--I don't know what your comments program is, but it's kind of annoying in that you now have to give it both your name and email everytime. Minor complaint, though. I dig your clips as much as Crooks and Liars, plus the rest invites more philosophical thought than the one-liner crap and troll-bashing fests that others fall prey to.

I was surprised to read in an interview with Stephen Colbert that he's a practising Catholic. It might explain why this guy would go on the show. That and the duty Christians believe they have to proselytise to non-believers whenever the opportunity arises. Oh, and to plug his book and make lots of cash.

Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6.0, Quicktime 7

I tried reloading but it still doesn't work.

Also doesn't work for me - same problem as Norm (first frame visible, but then frame turns to a Quicktime Q with a question mark in it). Am running XP w/ Quicktime 7.0.2 plug-in for Internet Explorer. (all patches to OS recent). All other clips work fine.

Re: QT - I had to uninstall & reinstall QuickTime because I was getting kicked out of 'one good move' promptly with some error message with the culprit reported to be QT.

Thru our local library, I just checked out 'Where God was Born'; I'll have to see how it reads. I thought the interview strange; but then I think Stephen Colbert's style strange. As for his being a practicing Catholic - so what? I'm a practicing Catholic with degrees in theology/religious studies and more leftist than most folks I know. It ties into social justice & all that.

Oh, one other thing: I got the impression Feiler was messing with Colbert about quite a bit actually.

"As for his being a practicing Catholic - so what? I'm a practicing Catholic with degrees in theology/religious studies and more leftist than most folks I know. It ties into social justice & all that."

I'm surprised because his DS commentary on religion and religious practises is much more irreverent than I'd expect from a Catholic. I know Catholicism and Christianity are more in tune with leftist ideas than most people think, but that's beside the point because I don't really know what his political ideology is. He'll satirise the left as well as the right.

yeah, I've got the same problem -- quicktime question mark, even though all the other videos on the page work... (Internet Explorer)

Okay, that is freaky scary.

Inerrant...indeed.

I too got just a big question mark using Windows XP, IE 6, QT 7.0.3.

It worked fine in Firefox.

Give me a fucking break. I'm writing a book, Searching for the Easter Bunny. Can I go on his show?

same quicktime problem as everyone else, firefox, ie, windows xp...

The author is not a christian, from what I could see. He is jewish. I looked him up because I couldn't quite understand what his perspective was from the interview. I think it sounds like an interesting book, and I thought that the interview was quite entertaining.

"Why would Feller appear on this show? What does he have to gain? He did seem intelligent and engaged and fully aware of Stephen's intent."

I think he went on for exposure of his books - I bet that the spot inspired at least one person to go out and buy it.

Norm! Colbert did an interview with Barney Frank and you didn't put it up? I am sad!

Norm, thanx for providing these clips week in and week out. It's a community service and they're mostly funny as can be. Feiler is an odd duck. By the end of this interview I actually liked him. A few of his throw-away comments were kind of wierd, like he "found the burning bush?" Was that Barbara do you s'pose? Anyway, thanks again. Sometimes when technical difficulties come up, and the comments get surly, you must wonder if it's worth it. Well, there are literally thousands of us who appreciate what you do!

Frank

I'm also having problems seeing this vid.

Wow norm, you really had a 'techie-fart' on this one! LOL. I said 'techie-fart'.

For all of the Apple MacOSX users - after you installed the latest upgrade (MacOSX 10.4.3) you need to rebuild your permissions with all other applications not running and then do an immediate restart (yes, that may ruin your desire to win the "who's been up the longest without a restart contest" but just trust me on this one) - once you restart, your QT will work fine.

Windoze users - you may want to consider buying a Mac :P - actually - if you are having troubles with QT - try a direct-from-Apple-new-download - clear your cache and reinstall. That should help. Also make sure you are running Firefox. :)

As for "Walking The Bible" - hmmmm - interesting. Feller really kept his cool and seemed to actually enjoy the banter. What is interesting for me is that it was assumed that he was coming from a Christian perspective - and he wasn't.

Thanks Norm for all of the work you do.

BTW, Why is an email addie "required now?"

Now that most people have Quicktime 7...watch this:

http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/002164.html#002164

I'm working on it.

Okay It should work now

Thank goodness. Yesterday I deleted Quicktime and then downloaded it again, changed preferences, Googled the question mark problem and found about 10 references, all with 10 different solutions and tried them all, went to the Apple support site, but nothing worked. I had come to the conclusion that it was just hopeless and that only computer techs would be able to figure this one out. I didn't want to bother Norm with it as he is busy finding all of these great clips for us to watch, the latest scoops and puts a smile on our face with all of the latest political comedy clips. :) Delighted to find out that the ? problem has been resolved!!

"I think he went on for exposure of his books - I bet that the spot inspired at least one person to go out and buy it."--Leo

Most people can answer the obvious; so did I when I said he was "thriving on walking the dogma." So did Colbert. But I need to understand who would buy the 'stuff'.

I mean, that Abraham/son 'stuff' is not so easily passed off as "look, the bible is not some peaceful thing..." It's a brutal control mechanism of faith. "Look, there is no bounds to faith, look upon Abraham." It's the don't try this at home story.

And there is the original sin that implies that we should abandon reason for faith after biting from the tree of knowledge. It's a dangerous control mechanism of faith. Take the leap, ignore your thoughts.

And attacking Iraq because of the rebuilding of a temple/palace on a location is a precondition for the ... ahh, prophesy...End of the world...second coming...whatever. Great foreign policy.

All three examples discussed in the interview have a self-defeating feel to me--and the salt has lost it's flavor.

Yes, Feller is intelligent and engaging and knows his sources ... all preconditions for a reader when judging worthy an author. Add to that affable and improvisational and you have the ingredients of a very good flim flam man. A con artist. And yeah, someone in the audience is going to buy that book and I want to know why.

It's kind of like buying a lotto ticket. I won't buy them by the stub. I won't buy them by the sheet. And I'm not buying them by the book. The return on the investment is not worth it. I just can't buy a book that feels self defeating in the here and now. But he does seem like a nice guy. He does exude faith in himself. But I'm not buying the same old story in new wrappings set in the old country.

What an interview though!

Kind of funny, I was reading a story about some actor selling his sperm for $1 million dollars and the ad next to the story was about the upcoming CBS first time movie release of .... "Category 7, The end of the world". God this shit sells in the US.

simply put: 90% of everybody believes in Santa Claus...the rest of us got us a hard road.
