OMG!!! that is HILARIOUS!!!

Sounds to me like Pat's threatening Dover.

Could he be indicted as a co-conspirator should disaster befall Dover?

Well that's that then. No God in Dover. What a Buffoon!

And I love his straight man who deilvers the news too.

Let me see if I've got this right: God might create a "natural" disaster - presumably out of a sense of petulant vengeance - in Dover because the voters turfed board members who support ID so all the good people of Dover shouldn't count on God to help out after the disaster. Riiight.

What about the voters who supported members of the board who wanted ID in science. After this hypothetical disaster occurs, are they allowed to call on God for aid? Or does God only respond to the wishes of the voters if they have achieved a majority? Hmm.

Why do so many evangelicals think they do service to their Lord by making God seem so small, childish, and petty?

Haven't the majority of voters in Dover pretty much expressed that they are not turning to god to explain the creation and would not therefore (presumably) turn to her/him to "help them" through a natural disater ANYWAY?? They 'rejected god' according to Pat - if they aren't hypocrites, they'll reject the notion of a god helping them in a retribution-motivated 'natural' disaster just as much. Pat states the point, then misses it.

Next he'll call for the assassination of the new school board.

OK, so Pat has his own network to express his wacko views. Fine. But why do I see him on legit news shows as a guest commentator?

Pat Robertson: Asshole Superstar.

I'm not a Christian, but I do know this: there's no way in hell Pat Robertson has his thumb on the pulse of the Big Guy. No way.

There's a whole wing on the 8th plane of Hades with his name emblazoned in gold leaf on the door, of that I am MOST certain.

Wait.. I was under the impression that ID wasn't Christian or religious or any of that.. so by voting it down, they really aren't rejecting God, right?

Pat is a disgrace not only to Christians, but to any rational thinkers.

Yes, folks. That's God "I only help those when there's something in it for me." I hear he's pretty popular with the fringe.

Seriously though. How can they spit this nonsense? They're basically telling everyone that there's no reason to help someone other than getting something out of it. After all, I could always tell his Christian church: "Why should I support you? What's in it for me?" And if they look at me with digust, I just point them to old Patty boy and said, that's what he told me.

that is frickin sweet. pat has got some balls to give a comment like that.

This just proves that assholes who promote Intelligent Design under the guise of being an open minded, fair individual who is looking revamp our views on "old, flawed science" and it has NOTHING to do with Christianity are full of shit. What does the Bible say about about lying?

Once again, you have no way to prove ID throught the scientific process - that is why it is not science.

Your Dad, I hope you are reading this :)

You know, my first reaction was to smirk. But then I realized that Mr. Robertson is entirely consistent with all the whackos in the Bible. If you've ever cracked open that particular book, you'll see that it's filled with whacko prophets in the same vein as Mr. Robertson. Up to and including Jesus.

"Believe or God will fuck you." That pretty much sums up Judeo-Christian-Islamic religion.

Wait. Hold on. Back up. God's not in Dover??? You mean he's NOT omnipresent???? AHHHH NOOOOOO!!! These uber-Christians just rejected their own belief that their God is omnipresent. Oh the blasphemy! Well I guess it's ok. Appearantly the more you scare people with Jesus's name, the less you have to act like him, right? Our country is controlled by zombies.

What a blazing lunatic.

I've always held a specific amount of disgust for any idea revolving around God-will-hate-you-hurt-you (and in this case) fuck-you-over-if-a-volcano-vomits-on-your-town for the simplest of things.

It's not about rejecting a creator; it's about staying true to what science actually is.

Pfft.

So basically he admit's the intelligent design is actually just them preaching Genesis in public schools...smooth move Pat...

I am an atheist, but I want to correct what anon said. It sums up what SOME fundamentalist Judeo-Christian-Islamists feel. Pat Robertson does not represent the views of all Christians and Muslims. Also, it is my understanding the the work Islamist is considered pejorative now; this is what I was told by a Muslim. I refered to him as an Islamist and he didn't like that.

There are a fair number of liberal Christians out there and the Democrats and/or liberals do not help the Democratic party and the liberal cause by alienating moderate and liberal Christians and Muslims. Be careful to weigh your words and be more specific of who you are talking about.

I have done this same thing before, assuming things about people, and I a mending my ways.

Hannah is a Christian and so is Cure4Pain, and I bet that they can't stand this monster, Pat Robertson, who preaches hate and commercializes Christianity.

I wonder how many Dover residents woke up with a horse's head in their beds...

"I made them an offer they couldn't refuse."

Wait a minute... you can VOTE god out of your city?

I'll be right back. I've got to go talk to the mayor of Orlando.

Many of my family back home are Southern Baptists and they despise him. My aunt says he gives Christians a bad name - she actually equated him to Jim Jones.

I can just see him on an island, with followers in a white suit, with arms up in the celestial bench press, offering kool aid, and saying "come to me my babies - let me quell your pain."

Contrary to what is said by the "news" guy in the video, half of the newly elected school board are REPUBLICANS. They were forced to run as Democrats due to election laws.

I with Jo Ann on this. This type of Christianity that Pat follows, although it seems to be popular in the US, is considered a joke in the rest of the western world. I don't think serious christian theology, both protestant and catholic as ever been that simplistic. I'm sure most of us foreigners would have just thought that it was satire.

"forced" to run as Democrats? As if being a Democrat is so...so...

d i r t y

I agree with Kevin m. Pat is certifiably a nutcase. Why would legitimate news want any sound-bite from the likes of him.

But, then, who really is a spokesperson for Christians? Who can the newsmedia call on for comment from a recognized Christian authority?

Graham? Dobson? Pope? Hinkley?

The bottom line is extremism. And it exists everywhere, in all religions (well I suppose a "Buddhist extremist" would just be definantly serene, perhaps the serenest). ANY kind of extremism is dangerous. But as Jo Ann said, the extremists do not speak for all the believers. In my mind, instead of divisions between Islam and Christianity or Democrats and Republicans, I have a division between extremism and open-mindedness. As said in Star Wars, one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all times, "Only a Sith speaks in absolutes."

I used to watch Pat Robertson when I wanted a good laugh, but that was before I realized how many people take him seriously.

fuck pat, fuck him up his stupid ass

I demand to see God on my next ballot, for the soul purpose of being able to vote him out of my state.

That would be orgasmic.

No Pat, the people of Dover voted God out of the SCIENCE classroom, a place he has no reason to be in.

Prove to me that God/faith/religion is a science and Ill concede that he can exist alongside the teachings of chemistry, physics, biology etc.

But unitl then, the people of Dover have done the right thing by keeping your hokey religion out of a place that revolves around FACT not FAITH.

I bet Pat was somehow abused as a child. What pathetic fear mongering.

No wonder they are so down on science, they cannot spout their loathful BS when science proves them to be quite full of their own idiotic crap.

Pat REALLY needs to be confronted by a small mob of angry rational thinkers and held up by his $500 necktie and reasoned with by people with righteous indignation on their faces.

He has been a TOOL of death and subjugation for decades now. I remember photos of him inspecting military troops in El Salvador during the 80s. Wha...?

I love the last frame of that.

Pat Roberts is a cold vacuous jerk.

Pat is truly losing credibility (oh, wait he had none), but still the conservative community follows him religiously (oh, the irony). Perhaps he will turn into the Jack Thompson of the religious community.

Also, isn't God supposed to be forgiving? He won't be there? Isn't God everywhere?

I don't know Pat Roberts. I only watched his show once when I had the flu. I have never talked to and will never talk to Pat Roberts. Whew glad I got that off my chest.

Intelligent Design proponents are VERY careful not to mention "God" or "god" or any specific form thereof - this is why, they tell you, Intelligent Design has nothing to do with religion - and why it is OK to teach in our public school science classes. I would love to be there when Pat comes face to face with the Cosmic Designer of the Universe.

I love the frozen stare of the anchorman at the end of that bizarre rant! I think even that fundamentalist wack job is stunned, like he's having a moment of "what the hell am I doing, this guy is INSANE!"

Haha. What a fucking douche.

so much for a forgiving god.

user-pic

I think this creep is refering to his "disaster relief" foundation when he says "God's help".

I would have to be in pretty deep shit before I asked for help from those crooks anyway.

C.

user-pic

ROFL! the last frame, his straightman is like...holy hell! even I cant believe he just said that!

OK, let me pile on here... FUCK YOU, PAT! You know, if they had an Intelligent Design class it would be very short..."Well, kids, god created everything! Class dismissed!

The jeremiad is an antiquated and trite form of persuasion...

...and yet I'm sure some people are praying for the poor, lost souls of Dover tonight so that they may find God and avert whatever disaster his wrath has aimed at them.

user-pic

"Wait.. I was under the impression that ID wasn't Christian or religious or any of that.. so by voting it down, they really aren't rejecting God, right?"

Exactly.

I suppose that the Christians of Dover could pray thus: "Lord, I ask forgiveness for taking intelligent design people at their word and believing that their message was an attempt at science rather than Your True and Living Word. Intelligent design looked like nothing more than bad science, but in fact it was the Holy Gospel. If I had been wise enough to see this, I surely would have voted for it to be taught in biology class. Even though that would have been illegal. At that point would intelligent design again morph into science? Help my ignorance, Lord."

Now I know what drove Norm to atheism. He's a 700 Club viewer! Just kidding....

cheese is christ!

Having seen what "god" can do I'm packing my bags to move to Dover. Maybe I can find some sanity there. Here In Lincoln, NE we've got religious whackjobs a plenty.

I'm sure this wasn't intentional, but just look at the anchor's face after Pat finished speaking! Ohh man, thats hil-a-rious!!

I agree Dende. Even though ID and Christianity certainly have shared interest, it is not necessary that if you're a Christian you believe in ID. Pat Robertson, on the other hand, is making the case that if you are Christian you MUST believe in ID (or risk death and eternal damnation). I see this as the most glaring flaw with conservative/mainstream Christianity of the day: not allowing differing opinions and attempting to create universal consensus.

By the way...who's going to break it to Pat that he's going the hell?

I'm thinking about going to the church and demanding that they teach evolution in sunday school.

Dende is right I was kidnapped by that patmos fellow the one that pushes his agenda and forced to watch Mr. Robertson, hmm wonder if they are related Pat and Patmos.

Why do legitimate media outlets continue to put Pat Robertson on the air? Hasn't he proven himself to be a total fucking duchebag time and time again?

So, if there is no disaster in Dover, does that mean there is no God?

Or is there a statute of limations on this heavenly offence? Does God have 20 years to smite the citizens of Dover, PA?

Will he only strike those who voted against ID? Perhaps he will send them an ark or some other vessel to transport them away and then satisfy his vengence.

Oh my. I am confused. What does the Bible say on this?

STOP STOP STOP. You all realize that by contributing to this blog, and spreading this anti-christ message, that IF there is a global catastrophe that wipes out the digital blogsphere, and i'm not saying that there will be a terrible, horrible, computer virus or worm-like destructive force on line. but if there do, don't turn to god, because he sure will be attending to the god fearing, ID embracing christian-folks who have experienced windows blue screens first.

The biggest douche in the Universe!

The biggest douche in the Universe!

Pat sounds like the mafia for god. It's like, hey, mebbe youz payz ya dues. Things go Ok for yeh. Den mabbe you don't. Den tings don't go so good fer yeh. Maybe youz family gets into an accident...

i love the news reader's "rabbit in your headlights" look right after Pat Robertson threatens Gawd's wrath.
