I've Been In Australia

Donald Rumsfeld appeared on Bob Schieffer's Face the Nation today. During the discussion about John Murtha Rumsfeld pleaded ignorance of Scott McClellan statements etc. "I haven't seen any of these reports. I've been on an airplane flying back from Australia. I just don't know..." Later Elizabeth Bumiller of the New York Times asked the following,"60% of the American now believe the war in Iraq was not worth fighting. At what point does the lack of support at home affect the war." Rumsfeld replied, "...We have a president that knows the war is worth fighting and it is. and I think that the bulk of the congress reflected that in the vote you didn't see many people Republican or Democrat..." to which Bob Schieffer took this amusing shot at the secretary. "So you got word of that out there in Austrailia. You didn't hear the other part."

Hahaha, Bob Schiffer called him on his bullshit.

60%, what a nice percentage.

I just hope something happens soon... just something.

God Rummy seemed off his game too. When you let Dumbya speak for you ... you know you got nuthin. He should have done the W whole hog and just told Schieffer, "you've heard of jetlag?".

Seriously though, the administration is getting desperate. Stay off of planes and subways.

In all honesty, it wasn't a fair question to Rummy, he is not an elected official...BUT, he should not have acted as if he didn't know what was said, if he really didn't know, then he has got to be as oblivious as President Bush.

I can see it now, what was in Rummy's head:

"Was he called a coward? - Sure." "Was it justified? - maybe not." "Is he in keeping with Michael Moore? - probably." "Am I as informed about this? - probably not" "Have I been in Australia? - of course" "Will I keep asking myself questions to baffle you? - sure"

Watching the Murtha story unfold I'm thinking that it's very good for the Democrats in 2006 and more importantly very good for a decent kind of policy on the war. The danger has always been that Dems could not get out from under their previous war support and would end up conceding the anti-war position to some wing of the GOP that wanted to win elections. The Murtha proposal and the GOP aftermath ensures that they the Dems are identified by most Americans as the more anti-war party.

No video. Just audio. On my Windows XP.

It got cut too early.

Did Scummy...I mean Rummy get it, that he was caught in the lie about being aware of the issue with Murtha, or not? If so what was his reaction?

C.

Why are you using QT 7? I refuse to put this terrible software on my computer. I installed on my Windows 200 and it crashed. I had to rebuild everything.

NOT A SAFE PRODUCT.

Please wait until Apple fixes these problems, otherwise I'll just get my videos from Crook and Liars which offers WMV as an alternative.

I guess they don't have any news coverage in that backward country Australia, and Rummy's staff is inept at keeping him informed in flight. I hope nobody took his poor excuse as an insult. Jeesh, I can take a commercial flight and get the latest news at my seat, and now some airlines even offer an internet connection. When is the US government going to get some decent equipment on their planes to keep our officals in-touch with the world? God forbid something happens while Rummy's on a 12-hr flight, because apparently he won't find out anything until he lands. [PS: it is so easy to crash Windows 2000 with a newly installed product, so don't blame the apple software, which works fine, for Microsoft's inadequacies. Norm: Please keep using quicktime-7] Hobbes.

I've never had any installation problems with Adobe (Acrobat, PhotoShop, Illustrator), not Macromedia Studio nor MS Visual Studio nor tons of games on Windows 2000 Pro. Only Apple products have given me problems. Many hate Microsoft and their first reaction is to blame them for all problems. (But search Google Groups and you will see tons of problems with Apple installations on Mac and PC.)

My Windows 2000 worked fine before installing QT7. After installing QT7, windows crashed. This is somehow Microsofts fault? That logic doesn't follow.

In fact, I found the problem. It was that QT7 wipes out a DLL used by NVidia. Is that NVidia's fault? Should I have to uninstall my video card just to get the dubious benefits of QuickTime? I don't think so.

If my car ran fine on regular gas and I upgraded to the "new improved gasoline with additive xyz" and my car stopped running, would my car be at fault? Should I be forced to buy a better car?

This was the same logic that said "these web pages designed for Browser XXX. If you don't have that Browser, you can't see my web pages. Go away.". If users don't install QT7, should they stop visiting OneGoodMove too?

What percentage of people have QT7 installed? How come QT7 videos are not backward compatible? Gee, Microsoft Office products are. Just what is the advantage of QT7 over 6.5 for the user?

Hey, if Apple wants to make products that don't work with the "bad" Microsoft OS, and OneGoodMove insists on QT7, it will restrict itself to a minority of users.

Although BetaMax was better but the public voted for VHS.

Did you report the Nvidia bug to apple? Have you tried Quicktime Alternative What are the benefits of the h.264 codec Quicktime 7 supports. It provides higher quality at smaller sizes, and will soon be the codec of choice for many. It benfits both users since they don't have to wait as long for content and a better viewing experience, and it reduces costs for the person maintaining the website. Do I care if I get a minority of the users. No I don't. Do I caare if you get your video fix at Crooks and Liars why would I? Do you think that my only concern in hosting a site is to attract as many visitors as possible, it's not.

user-pic

It looks like you are telling me that you don't care if you make it easier for your visitors to visit your site because the purpose of your site is to please only you and make it easy for you to maintain. And I thought that it was because you had a political message to send out to motivate others! Sorry for the mistake.

Goodbye.

They aren't mutually exclusive.
