Bush and Al-Jazeera

Boris Johnson MP: Bush and Al-Jazeera: "The Attorney General's ban is ridiculous, untenable, and redolent of guilt. I do not like people to break the Official Secrets Act ... we now have allegations of such severity, against the US President and his motives, that we need to clear them up. If someone passes me the document within the next few days I will be very happy to publish it in The Spectator, and risk a jail sentence. .. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. If we suppress the truth, we forget what we are fighting for"

in my mind this is a good person-- and this is the only way to defeat big brother governments from controlling the masses-- why would anyone fear the truth?

bush and blair kill me-- talk about heckle and jekyll-- they really should form a comedy act when their terms are through and go on the road making jokes about how they screwed over the world—

okay, let’s get this straight-- supposedly george talked about bombing al-jazeera because in his world this is a non-democratic news organization that is controlled by the arab world and also al-qaeda-- isn’t this type of action against a news organization the opposite of democracy? isn’t this an action against freedom of speech?

of course, maybe we should remember that the arab countries and al-jazeera don’t believe in freedom and freedom of speech the way we do here in the good ol’ usa-- and once we bomb them of course then we can show them what real freedom of speech is-- uh-huh . . .

tony meanwhile is telling his news organizations not to comment on the story of bush talking about bombing al-jazeera-- now that’s really freedom of the press!! maybe we should bomb tony too—

There is no real freedom of the press. The press is so trained by their corporate masters who are receiving a lot of money for airtime from politicians. Certain things won't be reported because of how it would affect a sponsor's stock ratings.

We are living in the culture of the consumer... and the powers that be are forcing us to consume a lot of bullshit.

On a related topic.. seems like there REALLY are some Guantanamo-like camps over here in Europe... Now, if THAT doesn't cause Bush to fall, maybe we should ask Iraki troops to liberate the American People from their dictator...

what saddens me is there aren't more US politicians with a spine

I suspect that the reason for no politicians with a spine is that they've been threatened to silence by powerful rightwingers acting behind closed doors.

There must be a real reason for why the Dems don't stand up and questions the rightwing politics more than they do.

And the media?!? In Europe we're used to a REAL free press opposed to the kind in USA. It is so double standard that the American government goes to war to assure free speech in other countries, when they do what they can, to silence the critical press in their own country.

The world needs an American version of "The Guardian" pulling all the skeletons out of the neocons closets! I bet there's plenty... All these guys looks like the kind you see in films picking up hookers late at night...
