That's my deity! The god of the fundamentalists is an idol, an ideal, an idea, a prejudice, a graven-image-engraved-on-their-psyches.
Everything that exists has imperfections, however subtle. Therefore, a Perfect Being...
...must NOT exist.
And where He doesn't exist is in Plato's world of the Forms.
But making things make (and improve on) themselves, that's a ticket.
I think that ID is doing far more than damaging the public's view of science. It's damaging my view of religion!!! You see, you have your faith and either you beleive it or you don't, right? Who in the hell believes in ID? If the bible is right, and maybe it is (ehem), then ID is wrong. If science is right, then ID is wrong. No matter which way you look at, ID is wrong. I just blogged that point here: http://www.ximtc.net/home/?p=87, but it's a point I haven't seen too many people make. There isn't even a religious argument for ID!!!
