Jon Stewart / Dave Letterman
The discussion ranged from Harriet Miers to Tom Delay to John Dean's hide the salami statement. Overall it was an excellent interview.

Two of my favorite funny men. Pure joy.
My goodness, what a rare treat to see these two together! Delightfully awkward watching 2 of my favorite comedians on the same show, interviewing each other. The little brush at the Emmys was OK, but this is wonderful. Been anticipating it all week. I hope Jon drops by to see Conan (not likely, but I can dream).....
Thanks for posting this, Norm!
niiiiiiiiice. thanks.
Way to go Norm. Made my morning. And until someone gets indicted, my day.
Nice finale. Smokey the Bear ... waaah! I'm weeping with laughter.
All I had was the audio and it was worth listening.
good stuff.
Last third was excellent. Can't say I'll be all that sad, though, if I never, ever have to hear about another celebrity's baby . . .
very, very funny. Thanks!
(p.s. I'm sure it was an accidental mistake, but it's Howard Dean)
Give me a break... please. "If you don't have quicktime 7 don't waste my bandwidth by clicking on the video just use the audio link below." You sound like a friggin' republican. I suppose it's ok because now, after your wonderful recommendation, do I know what h.264 is. Great. BTW, I am one of those who gave up on Apple and switched back to the PC because of this elitist krapp. Tom
Elitist krapp [sic] , apple starts using a new codec that requires an update to your software and that's elitist. Is it elitist when Microsoft upgrades their software. Still using DOS are you? Educate yourself, you sound like a fucking idiot, and since you're not paying for the bandwidth why don't you take your PC and your attitude and fuck off.
Norm, maybe you are being a little harsh about the Quicktime 7 issue. I am a devoted mac user, and follower of onegoodmove, however, I am running OS 10.2.8, and guess what... I would have to upgrade my operating system to be able to use Quicktime 7. As much as I would like to do that, financially, it is out of the question.I understand your concerns about bandwidth use, but the notice about wasting your bandwidth was just a bit nasty in tone. There are lots and lots of loyal Mac users like me who would love to upgrade Quicktime. Your tone made it sound like we are willfully uncooperative. From your recent post about your new Mac, you may not be aware of the problems with older operating systems, even for those of us who are on OS X.
Tom -- I "haw haw" right in your face! If you think this is political, or even "elitist," then you deserve a good ridicule. Foolish, hollow person you. Nothing gets changed without a lot of initial howls from the crowd. The switch makes absolute sense in every thinkable aspect -- except for a few bitches who want everything to stay the same... and you call NORM a Republican! Check out Norm's link, come check out this link, and if you don't like it, read Norm's post again.
U aint payin shit 4 dis krapp, biotch!
And hey, the others complaining about their OS..... give me a break, how much is a copy of Panther on eBay these days? $30 or $40? There are other ways I can think of getting your hands on one.....
Anyway, Norm, I suspect you've got much more support than dissent. Obviously that ratio will grow stronger over time.
Come on people, he posted an alternative for people without Quicktime 7 and then simply said not to click on the video because it wastes bandwidth.
It's not like he said "Stop hogging my bandwidth with your old Quicktime you dumb losers!"
Dear Norm, I like your posts on philosophy and how you follow TDS. It’s very helpful to me here in Germany where I can’t get enough US media. As far as your band width is concerned... sorry if I hit a nerve. The QT 7 thing really ticked me off and I should have kept my comment to myself – there’s plenty other places to get such info. And thank you for posting an alternative to the video. You know, I wanted to remark to your post a few weeks ago about your new Mac. So you're one of those who, instead of the bible, (still) evangelize the Mac. Good for you. I’m sitting at my desk with my German “Aldi” PC running XP. It’s a fine machine and does the job. But next to me are a P-Mac 7600, a Mac Classic II and a modified Colour Classic (running an LC 575 with a full Quadra 040 and Ethernet – what a cool internet device!) I can’t stand Apple as a company and since 1999 I moved to the PC after using Macs for more than ten years. Good for you that you pay for a Mac. Is the Mac better than a PC? Who cares? I was just tired of getting screwed by Apple all the time (pricing, product availability, the chaos between consumer products and “professional” products, etc.) Apple could be so much but instead it chooses to be elitist and suck every dime not just out of it’s customers but developers and third party HW manufacturers. Did you hear the remarks S. Jobs made a few weeks ago that the music industry shouldn’t get greedy as it wants to raise the price of music downloads. This would, of course, impose on iTunes margins. Who the hell is Jobs to tell another company not to get greedy? He’s an elitist corporate America pig! Be more productive with your F-offs for F-up corporate America and I promise to respect YOUR bandwidth. Sincerely and regards from the Rhine region, Tom
Um, that would be Howard Dean, right?
Who gives a shit is Jobs is a prick? Do I buy oranges because I want to fuck the grocer?
Your likening of Macs to the bible is awfully predictable, and pretty damn ignorant. The last resort argument (insult) of the die-hard PC user who can't stand the fact that Macs are superior, both aesthetically and mechanically. PC users' tastelessness is highlighted more with every new Apple product. You're jealous, bitter, spiteful, and you feel threatened, despite Apple's tiny fraction of the PC market. I'll take rough edges in the business department if it means a solid machine at the end of the day.
You try to demean Apple supporters by comparing them to evangelists -- well, if I say a Zippo makes fire more efficiently than rubbing sticks together, would you claim I'm "evangelizing" the Zippo? Eh?
If it's a better product, I'll take it, and I don't care who's pushing it. Don't like dealing with Apple? Buy used (I do it all the time -- my whole set up was bought off of eBay).
And again, Tom, you aren't a paying customer to OGM, so I'll reiterate the "fuck off" previously stated in this thread.
I'd also like to add... you're a krappy asshole.
Ok. I really screwed up. I'm so sorry. I just didn't think that this Mac attitude still existing like this. You guys win. Thanks for bringing me back to third grade. Can't wait to find a way (change my name?) to join your gang. Oh please let me in. Oh please. I'm so sorry... Tom
Unfortunately the software to play the video with quicktime 7 is not availible at the apple website.
Manuel,
Software at the Apple Website to play quicktime 7
Thanks Norm, that was gold.
Welcome, iTom Duesseldorf X.
great, it works now!
Just to let you know that the Ice Creme removed the scratches from my iPod, and I've long since upgraded to QT 7 so I could continue to suck up bandwidth here at OGM with gratitude to you for the best bits of all these shows I otherwise would not see, but I will not kneel at the communion rail with Steve Jobs until his homeys trick themselves out in purple robes and red hats, the gold chains... all that bling we have come to expect from TRUE religions.

Oh hell Frank, that made my day. I long for a return to the day when we could discuss the relative merits of the 6502 over the 8080 and the new kids on the block with their Z80.
