Seems like the President should check things out before he speaks. Maybe the President SHOULD start reading the papers or watch the news instead of relying on his advisors to inform him...might save from ebarrassing incidents like this.

Chertoff (sp) doesn't seem as bad as all the other people in the administration. I also don't know anything about the guy and I'm sure (positive) he's done a ton of terrible things, but he's about the only one who doesn't rub me the wrong way.

Wow, "no one anticipated" this? Guess I must have hallucinated all those news stories I thought I saw on CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, CBS and ABC all weekend before the storm hit predicting that NOLA would be under 10-20 feet of water if the storm hit as a CAT 4 or CAT 5... Must have dreamt the parts where all of those news stations mentioned the levee breaking and causing that kind of flooding too...

When the Hurricane went through, reports were coming out that New Orleans dodged the bullet.

Well what was he supposed to say? "We knew damn well they were going to drown, but we figured what the hey, they're just poor black people"?

Here's what I'm wondering: Has W finally hit upon a mistake that he won't be able to squirm his way out of? The US population have shown lately that they're almost incomprehensibly gullible, but could they really have no breaking point whatsoever? Time will tell, I guess.

Chertoff is one of the worst apologists for this administration's failure. "Brownie" is just an idiot but Chertoff damn well knows what's happenend - and he's on a major disinformation campaign right now, blaming the city, the state, weather forecasters, even the dying and the drowned.

What does he mean by "picking up newspapers", anyway? Do they wait for the papers to get to know what's happened? "Oh, they say, there was a nuclear war yesterday, but we're still waiting for the Times to come out..."

But, using brownie's method of proof, after hearing/reading the news reports, they would still require confirmation from their own organisation before they would believe the news.
