I'm a New Orleans refugee writing to you from Houston, TX and I must say that the help we have recieved is unbelievable. Most of ya'll are hating on the issues, but I doubt ya'll even done a thang man. They got people over here in H-town helpin us like we was they own and ya'll on here hating and ain't doin shit? Thats typical with people like ya'll. Head on. At least ya'll care.

What the f*. That was the most amazing extended visual illustration of being out of touch I have seen. Thanks for posting it.

Well, as a regular blogger here, I’d like to say that I’m furious with this administration for spending our nest egg for times like these to line the pockets of his buddies on a greedy, senseless war for foreign oil. It’s obvious that this countries National Guard and its priorities are elsewhere. But I also recognize the need to contribute our fair share. I have donated to The Red Cross and I hope my fellow OGM regulars will too. Let’s do all we can to save the people who are in need and then let’s do all we can to hold the Bush administration accountable, in this instance for having no clue about the levees. I know it’s hard work for George to pay attention to the needs of Americans while he’s counting all his oil money. He has failed miserably on so many levels.

If only Bush had spent just a little time on the internets doing research on what experts were predicting would be the most likely scenerios regarding the levees in New Orleans..... or Bush did know and was just lying.

Peet's will match your donations to the Red Cross:

I'm sorry, don't mean to be insensible, but is D'Andre Walker real?

And if so: D'Andre, I'm absolutely sure people on the ground are doing their utmost to help. That's what people do, that's what Americans do. But this shouldn't have happened the way it did. And it was n o t unpredictable. But that's not the fault of the people of Houston, TX, but of some other Texan..

This scenario was predicted last October in National Geographic - look at that URL. It was hardly breaking news even then. Funding was cut for the Army Corps' levee projects for the 3rd year in a row, but Bush claims nobody had any idea...

Oh, and D'Andre, there weren't many guardsmen out there protecting you from looters because a lot of them were in Iraq.

What i want to know is , Why the f**k are the people shooting at those there to help. Do the looters actually think they will get out of there with the loot in tact? the army will just let them on the busses with the freshly stolen plasma screen tv's?? Harry Conick jr. had brought water, and bits of food to hand out, to try and help, but as he was trying to unload his truck of supplies he was being shot at!! WTF!! he was visably shaken and decided to drop all the shit he had there to help and get the hell outta dodge! The people are bitching that no help is coming, well i wouldnt come either if i knew i was gonna be shot at. Do they want help or not? Another person was yelling at the cameras saying "We have no oranization here, no one to tell us where to go ,what to do." Is there not half a brain cell between all of them that they cant organize themselves, help the evacuation process along and maybe, get the sick and elderly out first, report and or thwart the looters?? their fate lies in thier own hands, they need to step up and help themselves. Oh and racists are watching this very closely too, thier actions (people in new orleans/biloxi) are confirming what they've (racists) have been saying for years. Unsupervised, these people are criminally minded, lazy, and care less about anything other than personal gain, even in times of crisis.

D'Andre is republican fraud, as for people getting shot at, Remember the Watts riots. Did the Nat Guard "run away"? When there is no Leader this is what happens?

I think the stories of people shooting at rescuers and the story about hospitals under sniper fire were probably exaggerated more than a little. In this kind of situation stories like that spread rapidly, and what starts as a car backfiring can quickly turn into sustained sniper fire in the minds of the panicking people nearby. Not to say there was no shooting at all, but it could very well have been one or two isolated incidents that turned into bigger stories. Oh, and "D'Andre Walker" is a white middle aged redneck trying to write what he thinks the average black person sounds like from his comfortable home in west texas.

No way does the administration survive this catastrophic neglect. This has got to be the turning point. When the gov't leaves citizens to die in the streets like dogs, I mean, if that doesn't cause some kind of revolt then what will?

Thanks for the laugh, Duh Andre. btw it's "Nawlins", not "New Orleans",you moron.

You know FrenchFries I read your kind note yesterday, I had already left the office when you sent it. I like you as well and my middle name is argue. :)

I agree so much with you on several things and I am always attacked for reminding people that this administration is the same as the last administration and NO DOUBT the one before that. I have said before so I say it again. The President of the U.S. is not our problem. It never will be!!!

We lose focus of the big picture and settle for just the corner of it, where the President is.

Do I think the response is a horrible disgrace, I will be the 1st in line to say.... Heck Yea!!! I am embarassed by the fact that many are suffering when probably for the most part they should not be. Yet I have this question that just keeps going over and over in my head.

Why didn't these people get out when told too?!? I know what some will say, They had no way out! I don't believe that a matter of fact I think it is easier to walk on dry land than it is to wade through water. The same two feet that can take them through water, should have been the same 2 feet that they walked with to get out of town asap. (now let me say, those in hospitals and disabled I don't point a finger at)

Yet now what is happening is those that did not leave when had the chance are now pointing the finger at the goverment and saying, you didn't send a car to pick me up at my house.

You think I am unkind, but my life has been nothing more but helping people (I AM NOT BRAGGING) What I am saying is... I know people, know them very very very well. The majority of those same people will call you and say... I need food, and then when you bring them a package of ham and some bread, they look at you and say... I was hoping for some hamburger meat!

The other part I think is the fact that the President is not the only one that can mobilize help. Govenors and Mayors have the ability to organize and put things together without the President having to be involved. Why didnt the other states near the Katrina victims have something in the works to be able to go right into the devestation and help asap? I promise you it had nothing to do with the President "on vacation" The Govenors and Mayors should have put together a task force when they saw the storm on the radar screen. However the saying is.... The buck stops here! Because of who I am and what my life is about, it is always the failures of others that makes me look bad, now I am not saying I never make a mistake, yet, 95% of the time my own poll numbers are the reflection of my other staff.

So, if you have read all this... I say to you... Thanks!

More than one public official has said that they want Americans to understand how catastrophic this situation is. Hey, I understand what's going on, it's the public officials that are out of touch. It's down right insulting to hear the FEMA man say I need to understand. Hell, HE'S the one that needs to understand! God help us.
