Politicization is far too mild a word. The intelligence on Iraq was not mistaken, it was manufactured. This was mass deception.
From the this is so cool department:
The Colbert Report
Comedy Central said yesterday that it was giving Mr. Colbert his own show: a half-hour that is expected to follow "The Daily Show" on weeknights and will lampoon those cable-news shows that are dominated by the personality and sensibility of a single host. Think, he said, of Bill O'Reilly and Chris Matthews and Sean Hannity.

Im very excited about this Colbert Show. The New York Times article definetly gave more information then all the other news briefs I have read about this story.
Sounds like the Daily Show gang are expanding, for that I am greatfull, Ive always wished that they would expand and reach a broader audience. Here in Canada they show they Daily show on CTV which is the equivalent to NBC in the States.
I have found myself out of the blue telling my friends about the Daily show and how great it is, more and more people are watching it here in Canada.
I ended up writing an email to the Austin Police Department regarding the Coulter arrest:
"On the 3rd of May, your department arrested Ajai Rai, a Liberal voicing his opinion at a open O&A session started by Ann Coulter herself. Despite its profane nature, it was in fact a valid question pertaining to the subject matter, but nonetheless, every United States citizen has the right to voice their opinions without fear of censorship, regardless of the audience - the fact that there were children in the audience is no excuse; it's the parents job to keep their children away from that kind of profanity, not the police department's.
I'm sending you this email in active protest, though I doubt it will have much weight on your decision. This act is against everything I believed the police to stand for - the upholding of the laws laid down in the Bill of Rights. With this unlawful arrest, you show that the police department in Austin has sunk to the level of Musolini's brownshirts - silencing opposition.
Disorderly Conduct only applies when public disorder is started, and since A) said lecture was in an inclosed enviroment, and B) the only people who were 'offended' by any means were the people who disagreed with Mr. Rai's question, not by his actions, I believe that the officer in question was being very overzealous in his actions.
I hope you will consider this, and thank you for your time.
-Matt"

Check that link out if you want to do the same.
I bet they'll be pissed off when they find out that a 17 year old (ME) is voicing protest, hahaha.
i love the Daily Show, and i especially love Colbert. or as he was known in one piece, "Ted Hitler". his straight face when he is saying the most absurd things is priceless.
as for ann coulter, i am in Australia which means i havent really heard much about her, but she sounds unreal. does she really belive that? how can someone so hateful be taken seriously? good on the guy for asking the ass question, its quite a legitimate question.
About the Tempets in Texas,
How messed up is it when you are too Mormon for staying in Utah?
And when a town with less than 2000 people and more than a dozen churches, fears your religious group might be moving nextdoor, maybe you should re-examine your faith. When you have to lie to your new neighbors about who you are BEFORE you move in, something is very wrong, either with you or the prospective neighbors, maybe both.

On "Tempest in Texas,"
Damn it, why do the fanatics have to come here and start all their wacky, fundamentalist sh!t in Texas. People will think that those lunatics were from here. "Oh, those damn, crazy fool Texans!" people will say.
I'm an atypical Texan, not usually proud to call myself a Texan (I don't buy into the the whole extreme statism/nationalism/patriotism/whatever-you-want-to-call-it about Texas), but I can see where this is possibly going to lead. Another Koresh-like explosion and more sullying of my state's already ill-viewed name.
And yet, gosh, golly, gee. I'm not surprised its happening here. I sure hope Homeland Security is keeping close tabs on these guys. ;)
Comedy Central is becoming the cable channel for Media Matters. Then again, who isn't entertained by these people?
"Comedy Central is becoming the cable channel for Media Matters. Then again, who isn't entertained by these people?" What does that mean?
I am not entertained by Media Matters - they are informative but it is just depressing how marketing and manipulation are the rules of the day - truth be d@mned. It is amazing how playing into people's vanity works so much better than appealing to their sense of logic. As Luntz says (he doesn't even bother to hide it) tell them what they want to hear - it doesn't matter what the facts are. And the suckers line up to be lied to as long as they are being told they are savvier, cannier, they are the heart of real America... And Comedy Central does what all the smarter comedians used to do - they riff off of the news and the government - be it liberal or conservative - they give us a new way of looking at something that is funny AND truthful. Is that what you meant, history? I just didn't get it.....
Today my 11 year old daughter accidentally called someone (one digit from our home number). Asked if her mom was there and was told she had the wrong number. The "person" called back 2 minutes later, said her mother was dead and she was f@&king eating her p*y now. We called the police. They were concerned but we were told that it is NOT against the law to talk to someone like that. So there was nothing they could do about it.
So how is what the guy in Austin did illegal??? He said this to a grown woman who lives for controversy, not an 11 year old.
