Catapult The Propaganda

"If you've retired, you don't have anything to worry about -- third time I've said that. (Laughter.) I'll probably say it three more times. See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda. (Applause.)"

Tell them it's propaganda, promise to tell them three more times, and they applaud.

"Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth."—F.D.R.

He must have catapulted the propaganda in my direction because I finally understand! Hooray for Jesus! I mean wait, what were we talking about?

user-pic

I heard this on the Mike Malloy show the other night. It truly is amazing, is it not?

The balls of this man to make a joke of the actual propaganda he has sold. He is mocking the American people.

Is the American public at large so numb and dumb? I just cannot believe it. I really cannot.

No, amazing was not the right word. Disturbing, is.

There are Freudian slips and then there are FREUDIAN SLIPS... this one was a doozey!

No wonder they trotted out the First Librarian... this dog won't hunt! Shit floats to the surface eventually.

What do you say to that... his poll numbers are sinking like a rock, the GOP Congressional leadership is even further gone and right now the midterm elections, if one just closes your eyes... a scene from Les Miserables... complete with Guillotene begins to shape up! Sigh! If only it were possible.

Remember in October 04, he said something like, "I promise we will NOT have an all volunteer army." And then froze and someone from the audience yelled out, and then he changed it and everyone cheered. Now, if Kerry had said that, whoa boy, it would be a big Freudian slip. But not with Bush, just turn your brain off and clap.

Well hey...there's nuthin like having a hand picked "town meeting"! Those folks would cheer if he told them they were all getting free turd sandwiches for lunch!

Some where between the actual audio track of what he said... and the photo where he looks like a gay Hitler from the "Producers"... I'm sure that I have truly crossed over into the Twilight Zone!

Okay Rod... you can come out now... Cut the shit Rod and come out from where ever you are!

that was funny joe!! Thanks!

Those folks would cheer if he told them they were all getting free turd sandwiches for lunch!

[Is the American public at large so numb and dumb? I just cannot believe it. I really cannot. ]

You'd better start believing it soon. It's here.

Reminds me of a quotation from Vladimir Lenin: "A lie told often enough becomes accepted truth." Kind of what Bush said... in not so many words.

Since he went that far, Im surprised he didnt just yell Zeig and wait for his crowd of lemmings to sing along!

"It also gives us a very special, secret pleasure to see how unaware the people around us are of what is really happening to them." -- Adolf Hitler

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." -- Hermann Goering

Hey, W! You make all this sound so relevant!

Monkeys, thry're all a bunch of Goddamn MONKEYS!!! get me the hell outahere

I just love this guy. This tells me you can be the biggest asshole alive and yet president of a country.

I hate Bush as much as the next guy, but it was a freakin' joke! If we continue to bring stuff out like this as an attack on Bush, it just makes us look like morons. Find stuff that really discredits Bush and push that. Believe me, there is plenty of stuff to attack him about.

What's sad is that he can get away with it, thanks to the media and religious right.

Here's another on from the Chicago Sun Times:

The comedy came first. On Monday, President Bush stood beside Afghan President Hamid Karzai for a "Joint Press Availability."

Asked if the Iraqi insurgency was getting more difficult to defeat militarily, Bush answered with a classic Dubya-ism.

"No, I don't think so," he said, "I think they're being defeated. And that's why they continue to fight."

Right about now you have to wonder if Cheney and Rove are muttering about Bush having a single digit IQ or laughing because the rubes at home are so stupid to let believe this idiot?

Not defending Bush here but I think he meant that you have to catapult the truth over the wall of propaganda.

See he thinks that what he says is truth and his opponents put out the propaganda. Kinda like when he said that the truth has to go around the "filter" of the media.

Fuck'em anyway.

anon - "I think they're being defeated. And that's why they continue to fight."

To be fair, that is a classic quotation that will stand the test of time. Though I doubt Bush intended any of the confucian depth that one could convolute from it.

Scary thing is, it sounds like it comes from the mouth of Donnie Rumsfeld. Can you imagine what Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney talk about over brandies and cigars? The beauty of it is, they are leading a democracy. The mind boggles.

--Bush replying to the question of stiffer resistance in Iraq: "No, I don't think so," he said, "I think they're being defeated. And that's why they continue to fight."

Sounded like Yogi Berra to me but there is another plausible translation: "The resistence is like a cornered animal. It's most dangerous when it is forced to fight back."

Of course, they don't SEEM so cornered to me. Especially since they are using the same tricks of suicide bombers in a more widespread fashion and most pointedly in public areas. Not in the privacy of their bomb-makin' bomb-strappin' homemade base where they can only kill themselves. So I reject that notion of 'cornered animal'.

I was doing a search on 'cornered animal' for usage and found this old quote of Cheney's in the summer of 2004(campaign heat):

"The biggest threat we face now as a nation is the possibility of terrorists ending up in the middle of one of our cities with deadlier weapons than have ever before been used against us biological agents or a nuclear weapon or a chemical weapon of some kind to be able to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans," Cheney said.

"That's the ultimate threat. For us to have a strategy that's capable of defeating that threat, you've got to get your mind around that concept," Cheney said.

It's just so weird to me. Visualizing hell and working backwards to prevent it. Taking ALL measures to avoid this doomsday is actually self defeating. That is what makes Cheney's last part so interesting:

"That's the ultimate threat. For us to have a strategy that's capable of defeating that threat, you've got to get your mind around that concept," Cheney said.

He means to prevent the terrorist attack, but it reads more honestly: The ultimate threat is for us to have a strategy that's capable of defeating that threat. Like creating an all powerful 'spy on citizenry' Security apparatus that covers it's tracks and knows no bounds. It's big brother but now we have the super computers and internet and the visualized hellish threat; it's nearly the recipe for big brother lacking only in the will of a dictator with a REAL mandate. He needs a dumber and more scared society than we have--Just hopin'.

And we as a people have to get our mind around that concept! To prevent the threat, I see only two encompassing plans:

1) read everyone's mind. or 2) pursue total disarmament of WMD's.

The first one is contrary to real "Freedom and DemOcracy". And the second is feasible using the UN because production of WMD's requires easily observable manufacturing structures. We don't need these fucking WMD anymore! They are a curse--you can't use them but everyone wants them because someone's got them and we don't even need them! Nuclear Disarmament is so obvious. But then why not ground our f-18's too? Because war is big business here in the states and individual freedom is dispensible.

So when Bush/Cheney/or Rummy says something, I look for the contradiction: "I think they're being defeated. And that's why they continue to fight."

This comment is suggestive of a more spirited resistence in Iraq and bush knows it and can't quite mouth the truth.

Strange, but the only reason we keep trying to figure out what bush is saying is because he can't speak the fucking straight forward truth.

That must be the greatest Freudian slip I've ever heard. Paging Mr. Goebbels and Mr. Rove, your table is ready...

Catapult This George!

to me it just sounds like he mixed up his lines...

user-pic

Sounds like we need to read between the lines - it IS propaganda. The clock on my coffee maker says 911 - hey there's some more propaganda - 9/11 is propaganda. It was created by design to make you think that the bad guys are over there when they're really right here on own turf. Supposedly a Boeing 757 crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11 - where's the plane? A 757 is a BIG airplane. A 757 has 2 engines that are 9 feet tall. A 757 weighs 160 tons and carries 5,300 gallons of fuel. But a skilled kamikaze terrorist pilot was able to guide the huge aircraft into the Pentagon and leave no wreckage. Planes leave wreckage when they crash, they don't disintegrate into microscopic particles. And lets not mention the fact that this 757 violated the most restrictive airspace in the country without detection, yet a single engine Cessna can, and draw a hoard of F18s to it like a fly to a fresh dog turd. The twin towers were blown up on purpose by our own government sponsored propaganda machine. Oh I hear the jeers now like Our own government would never do something like that to its own people. Cheney talking about terrorists in the middle of one of our citiestheyre already here. Why do you think the border to Mexico is wide freaking open?! Gun battles have already started on the Texas/Mexico border.theyre here already. Better get ready for another Alamo. Its only a matter of time and the exact time it happens will be controlled by the government sponsored propaganda machine. Theyll come in with martial law, take away your guns, barcode your arm or implant a tracking device under your skin, and all this will be for your own safety. Propaganda = Patriot Act and Government ID. Theyre giving us the signs of things to come. We need to read between the lines.

Look, we all know the president is a twit. BUT, WHO ARE THE PEOPLE CLAPPING??!??

Hey Justin, if it was, as you say, "a freakin' joke" why is the crowd clapping and not laughing! The word 'propaganda' should not be coming from the mouth of a President. If he had said: Now, if some of y'all don't like my social security plan we can round y'all up into concentration camps, hehe, just kiddin, folks! Would that have been a freakin' joke, too?

Bush is an idiot...but propaganda doesn't by definition mean falsehoods. Propaganda could be 100% true...but it just has such universal negative connotations.

user-pic

I think he meant what he said, because he didn't know what the hell he was saying. See...that's the way Bush's mind works. He can't memorize lines, so they tell him things like "Don't say 'propaganda'!", but after they tell him this, he can only remember one word and guess which one? That's right...the one right before the exclaimation point.

Well folks, the last time the west had leadership like this guy, the empire was split and there were barbarians at the gates.

user-pic

Last time I witnessed effective catapulting was in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. Freudian slips/crusades. What century are we in?

BOOYA!
