Along these lines, but somewhat unrelated, I'd like to say that sometimes, practicality is dealt a deadly blow when big stores run the show.
Case in point: last week, I went to the Office Depot down the way and wanted one of those cheap, economically effecient binders. Just a regular, blue, 3-ring binder, store brand.
But no, they only sold them in two packs, and sure, that extra dollar made little difference to me, but think of the principle! What of those of us that only want one, but are left to go empty-handed by the two-pack dealing corporations.
Why Nixon?! But seriously, I hate walmart. Could the employees be any more inept? I'm not talking about the elderly, they're fine by me, but when people start giving you attitudes when they don't know something, there is something wrong with the training/hiring process.

WalMart is the tip of the ice. Just think of it as a poster-child. What about all the other corporations that break it off in "folks" all over the globe? I'm sure fuckers like Dow, Merick, and Mobil just love it that we keep our focus on WalMart.

I do in fact have on DVD that very Frontline documentary that HH32 is referring to. The heavy of the documentary is Wal-Mart's dumping of televisions cheaply manufactured in China. Dumping is the practice of selling a product at less than cost, chiefly in order to put competition out of business. Outsourcing is one of the biggest problems facing the labor movement, and I do have to say that, while Bush has done everything to help increase it horrible application, it was Clinton's implementation of NAFTA that was the catalyst for this problem. And thus you might understand why I'm not enthusiastic about the idea of another Clinton in the White House.
On the plus side, I have read a recent story that the employees of a Wal-Mart in Canada have unionized. I think that only makes two stores, but it's a start.
Now here's MY dilemma. I am making my best effort to encourage support for the labor movement and to discourage people from shopping at Wal-Mart. Yet at the same time, my mother recommends to my sister that she buy her goods from the Wal-Mart across the street! Et tu, Brute!?

his last comment about the rich oral tradition is an aptly placed joke that only a jew like stewart could say on tv :) I love this guy to death.
