The Rainbow TV skit is 'real' in that there was indeed a show with those characters, but this particular piece was made as a sort of blooper reel, something for the cast and crew to have a little fun, and was not distributed beyond the studio (or at least, was not intended to be).
What probably disturbs me more about all this is the people who are calling for This show or That show to be boycotted or whatnot is that they are essentially bringing sex into a place where it was not before and doesn't belong. What happens when 'the children' ask questions about why someone hates the show that they love? Is the reason to target this show because of sex or love? Come on, FFS, it is a children's show! If 'gay men' overwhelmingly liked chocolate milkshakes, should they be banned, too? Essentially, the whole discussion is absurd, which is probably why it gets so much media attention...
It just seems to me that some 'conservatives' have an unhealthy obsession with other people having sex.
