This And That

2004 Person of the Year

George W. Bush

For sticking it to the world (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the meaning of honesty and common decency to fit his ten-gallon-hat style, and for hoodwinking a majority of voters that he deserved to be in the White House and not run out of town on a rail. George W. Bush is TIME's 2004 Asshole of the Year

2004 Discovery of the Year

Math

It's about a habit of mind. Your mind doesn't think abstractly unless it's asked to - and it needs to be asked to from a relatively young age. The rigor and logic that goes into math is a good way for your brain to be trained."

I don't know if Sheldon is complaining about me be not being rude enough but in any event he thinks you'll enjoy reading the Rude Pundit

When You Have Too Many Books Is that possible?

The best thing I've read all week Norm. I totally agree and there is so much here, but these sick out;

"very little brain" "Being big is not always better" "The great God that formed all things Both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

We have a surprisisng visitor to the Medicine Wheel right now, the radiant planet Saturn. Old Father Time himself and he has settled in right next to the twins, Castor and Pollux, an uncharacteristically prominent place in the ethereal pattern of things.

Though I'm no soothsayer, something momentous is bout to happen and I believe the closing salutations confirm my believe's.

Wonderful, just wonderful. Many thanks

Norm, do you find it as hillarious as I do the part in Time's quote about why the picked Ahole to be person of the year when they say "for persuading a majority of voters that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years"

I do. It's like the report cards he got as a child. George tries hard, really hard and his fellow students like him and that's something.

lol. He TRIES really hard and ITS REALLY HARD WORK being president and its REALLY HARD work just don't forget how it's REALLY hard work !

There ya go! Show the nation's youth that if you just stick to your guns, "stay the course", ignore or twist the facts, and totally disregard anyone else's opinions - you can be somebody. What kind of message is this sending to the nation and the world. We officially look like assholes to the rest of the world.

"We officially look like assholes to the rest of the world"

we noticed ages ago... you ve got to do something about your talibans, it s getting way out of hand...

you re assholes and the laughing stock of the world now.

I totally agree with Bush as person of the year. If I add up the minutes I spent thinking and talking about famous people I don't know, Bush ran away with it. For Iraqis, our soliders there, social security recipients, and young people who will inherit our fiscal mess, George W. Bush's political success in 2004 will have a huge impact. W., unfortunately, dominated the year.

Remember, Time's person of the year doesn't have to do any good. Stalin and Hitler have won it.

Man of the Year refers to the person who has has the greatest influence on the world. GWB earns this award hands down.

Hitler has won the same award as well as Osama bin Laden.
