My Lazy Ass
100 Notable Books of the Year and I haven't read a single title from the list. Damn politics and my lazy ass, I've got to get back to one of life's more important endeavors, reading fiction. Non-fiction you say, nope haven't read any of those either though I have started The Ancestors Tale by Richard Dawkins.
update: There's more, another list from the Guardian of notable books from 2004.

does reading excerpts count? if so, i get one point for the spiegelman. also, i do have on order with the library the jonathan strange book, but i'm cancelling it because i'll never find the time to read it: it's huge. re: guardian list, i read the da vinci code but it's horribly written... ideas are interesting though and fun.

I must be an elitist. The da Vinci Code has been recommended to me, as a must read, multiple times. Family members, chardonnay fucks, a guy on the bus. I just can't bring myself to read it. And no reading excerpts doesn't count. At least you go to the library. I often buy the books and then they sit on the shelf for years unread. It is a terrible habit that I simply must break. I'll bet I only read 4 of 5 books I buy. Shame on me.

Richard Dawkins was interviewed by Bill Moyers on Now the past friday. Would have the conversation on mp3.

I missed it. They should have audio or video up in a few days if you see let me know and I'll convert to mp3.

I would agree on the da Vinci Code it is not very well written. Interesting if your a big fan of western Europe like myself, or are interested in quirky ideas about the origin of the Christian religion and like puzzles. It's along the lines of the currently released movie "National Treasure."

Is there any way to get a transcript of the Moyers/Dawkins interview?
