Vote Fraud Redeux

Did we get fleeced, or are some just poor losers? It's not as clear as you might think. What Really Happened has some provocative graphs on the discrepancies between exit polls in states with paper ballots and audit trails and those with machine voting. Check it out here and here is the larger graphic

and please read Thom Hartman's piece Exit Polls Right, Tallies Wrong

We have four years to fix voter fraud, how many out there have been hard at work on that one? The inheret gamble for an opinion of a liberal is to say your a "sore loser," and opens yourself to the dismissal from the other side. Cries of "you lost, get over it," tend to reverberate through any criticism. I wade in anyhow. The immortal words of Jim Morrison always come to mind-"You cannot petition the Lord with prayer." Marching in the street doesn't work anymore, pithy catch phrases won't get it. Waving signs and banners will not get the folks to the polls- at least the portion of the folks who wants to see change. Sleeping with the Democratic National Committee and expousing phrases will not wrest corporate political control away baby, and if you do not want to sacrifice towards that end, then in the great words of a recent E.L. Doctorow opinion, "The President we get is the country we get." The hair and suits pundits make much of Red & Blue states and divided the country. Throughout this campaign they did all in their power to paint Kerry as some kind of Francophile and effete snob. And those on the side of this so-called divide-the WWF Raw aficionados, the NASCAR Dads, and Joe and Jane sex-pack crowd- whose only issues in an election is the "camel jockeys," "furriners taking thier jobs," and welfare mothers worked for Bush's advantage. It worked for Hitler as well in Nazi Germany, though the lightning rods had different catch phrases. If it weren't so sad, its quite laughingly ironic that a so-called "red stater" with his 15 year-old pick up. sporting a American flag the size of a billboard votes for the one guy who is solely responsible for his economic dilemma. He is buying rolling tobacco to roll his own cigs, trudging down the road to the unempolyment office, standing in line with those he so despises- and yet somehow believes Bush will make it all better because Bush says the same damn things this redneck says-"It's all someone else's fault."
Certainly it is not surprising to anyone steeped in history, it is exactly how a totalitarian gains and regains power. Many pundits today- even in the NPR- throwing out the phrase "moral victory." It is damn hard to swallow that any intelligent being would believe that electing one of the most immoral men in this nations history to it's highest office could be an exemplary act. This man who laughted and mocked at the deaths of men and women he executed while Gov. of Texas. This cretin who has sent young men and women off to die and be gravely wounded in an illegal, immoral war could and should never-be paired with the word "moral." The Bush Administration is chilling in its scope, rivialing anything Joe McCarthy could have dreamed up. Back to Jim Morrison's phrase. "You cannot petition the Lord with prayer. We cannot sit around wringing our hands while beating our collective breast. The so-called Demo-Party in this country has got to see a coup! We need to take it away from those who have sold their souls to corporate boardrooms of America. As Emma Goldman (1869-1940) said; "Resistance to tyranny is man's highest idea."

The term "conspiracy theory" is being used very broadly these days, most often as an epithet which refers to any notion forwarded by one who seriously distrusts the system of power. Many people distrust power in an unserious, thoughtless kind of way--smugly dismissing the idealistic rhetoric of politicians, or snidely mocking the aspirations of collective causes. But when it comes to our fundamental free democratic insitutions--the court system or the election system, for example, most of us seem to be naive, starry eyed children who believe no one would dare take away our rights or our votes.

I'm not saying the election of 2004 was stolen. I don't think I've ever even referred to the 2000 election as stolen. But manipulation of elections has happened before in this country, and there are without a doubt people who would do it today if they could get away with it. The discrepancy between exit polls and final results (which has been explained adequately by no one so far) is disturbing, as is the fact that Bush is the first incumbent ever to get more than 1% more than he got in the final Gallup Poll. Bush had 51% in very few polls, and incumbents getting more than their final poll numbers is quite rare. We need competent, fair journalists, citizens and politicians to research this issue, demand answers, weigh the evidence, and propose serious reforms if necessary. We can't allow elections to be stolen simply because it's too disturbing to believe that some would dare attempt it.

Diebold, electronic voting - "We gaurentee results!" All the campaigning in the world will not change things for the better if the voting system is rigged. Blackwell must go down.

We need to get active in Florida behind this growing voter fraud scandal!!!!!!!

The Democratic party is asleep at the wheel. The answer is why the working poor would vote against their own best economic interest. The Rise of the Fourth Reich, everyone likes to say, "Hitler did this, and Hitler did that, but the truth is Hiltler, like Bush did very little. He was a world class tryrant, but the evil actually done by the Third Reich, from the death camps to WW2 was all done by the German citizens, who were afraid to question if what they were told to do by their government , was the truth or not. An because they did not want to admit to themselves that they were afraid to question the governmnet, refused to see the truth behind the Reichstag Fire, refused to see the invasion by Poland was a staged fake, and followed Hitler into national disaster. The German people of the late 1930's imagined themselves to be brave. They saw themselves as heroic. Dose any of this sound familiar?
