The Truth About the Gipper
William Rivers Pitt has written an excellent article about Reagan's death. It strikes the right balance between compassion that a human being with a family has died and telling the truth about the nature of his presidency.

yes, i remember these deeds from his time in office, and the price we are paying now. i'm afraid the myth is going to get bigger this week, "the trouble with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along.
I have been roundly criticized by the rightwing blogosphere for my own small review of Reagan's life. But the fact is, I really disliked -- was terrified by -- the guy when he was in office and his death doesn't change that. So to try to be pleasant about him now would be hypocritical. I wonder if all these complainers will be "respectful" when Clinton dies. I doubt it.
