A Senior Moment
From an email my cousin sent me:
Peaches calf was due soon. I was fixing up the old stall in the barn and clearing a covered loafing area next to the corral. I wanted an excellent maternity ward for the cows if they needed it.I asked Sherwood to cut some 2x6 lumber for me. He readily agreed, tossing me the tape measure. I happily trudged off toward the barn. He then called out "measure twice!"
My shoulders sag. "Thanks a LOT" I mutter to myself. Now I have to try to remember TWO numbers.
Peaches checked out the finished ward, thanked me with a dump, then gave birth to her daughter under the old oak tree on the hill.

Small world cousin. I met Betty Jo when she was in the second grade and Steve was in fourth. She used to chase me around the playground like pesky second grade girls did, and sometimes I would let her catch me. When I had "best friends," Steve and Betty Jo were it. Our paths criss-crossed over the decades, and I was always warmed when the BJ or Sherwood or Phil or Steve called me cousin.
I'm crying here now. I think the tears are happy.
Now we just need to convince Betty Jo to start blogging. How about it cuz did ya chase him?
